Who's going to FAR conference in August?
The Florida Association of Realtors is holding its annual convention
and trade expo August 19-23 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando.
Money is tight for our family right now (we haven't sold our home in
more than a year, rent is high where we're living now, mortgage on
house where we're no longer living is going up $800/month starting July
1st) so I can't really afford to go....then again, after looking at the
lineup of classes being offered, I'm thinking I can't afford NOT to go.
Here are just a few of the offerings for the week:
Intro to Social Networking....and
I quote: "YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and Active Rain are
just some of the Web sites you need to be on to stay connected with today’s hi-tech buyers and
sellers."
Microsoft Outlook: Starting With the
Basics: "Topics include
how to send, receive and organize e-mail messages, maintain address
books and stay on track with your appointments using calendar features."
Star in Your Own Webinar:
"Learn how to touch prospective clients and customers by starring in
your own webinar. "
How to Use Microsoft Excel
Go Global with Listings Unleashed on the Web: "According
to a recent study done for the Florida Association of Realtors, 25% of
all homes purchased by International buyers in the US were purchased in
the State of Florida. In this session, [learn] strategies on how
to tap into the most powerful resources for marketing your listings to
the world. "
Earn Money with Auction Action for Your Sellers
How to Use Powerpoint
Building Your Website: "Learn to plan, organize and run an
effective Web site and to develop a marketing plan to drive traffic to
your site by using search engines to the max!"

And this is just a sampling of offerings!
So....I'm just curious....how many of you Florida (and non-Florida)
ActiveRainers are planning on going to this conference? I'm
thinking we should get an AR party going with our fellow Rainers!
I'd LOVE to meet you guys face to face!
If you're a member of FAR and you register for the full convention by
July 14, your cost is $75 (looks like entry to trade expo is another
$25)....single/double rooms are available at $139/night.
I'm trying to convince my sweetie into going with me and bringing the
kids....even for a couple of days....that way they can play in the pool
and goof around Orlando while I'm getting my geek on at the conference.
