Twitter ettiquete
Do you thank people when they start following you on Twitter?
I do not. I have read more than once that I should.
What do you think of this as my "thank you" for following DM?
"Thanks for following. Do you wanna buy a house? Or do you know someone who wants to buy or sell a house? I look forward to sharing some great info about new and used homes as well as open houses and price reductions from time to time."
Columbus car salemen new or used
A local car dealership followed me on Twitter...
They sell new and used cars...
They are not the part of town I live or work in.... but that's OK.
They are not the brand of car I drive currently... but with most people / businesses in Central Ohio (the greater Columbus area) that follow me I will follow back...
I followed back and business / company tweeter responded via DM:
"Hi and thanks for following us here at XXXXXX XXXXX. We look forward to sharing some great info about new and used XXXXXXX's as well as parts and service specials from time to time."
Car parts gee that will be fascinating to follow won't it?
Service specials.... (remember it's not the brand I drive, not the part of town I live in...) I am NOT a big car person.... maybe if it's your brand, close to where you live or work... or more into cars it would interest me... I have followed Scott Monty with Ford for months and have found that fascinating.... now not every car dealership has a social media guru... and Scott Monty is Fords social media expert... I don't drive a Ford either...

"You are no longer following XXXXXXXX XXXXXX"
The way I look at it... The car dealerships started following me.... they are in Columbus so I followed back.
When I saw them following me should I have DM'd them:
"Thanks for following. Do you wanna buy a house? Do ya? Do ya? Or do you know someone who wants to buy a house? I look forward to sharing some great info about new and used homes as well as open houses and price reductions from time to time."
Twitter is only a fad
The word is in ... the word now from the ActiveRain dashboard is that Twitter is a waste of your time... I have met a lot of locals (on-line and some in person) because of Twitter but I would concede Twitter may just be a fad....I get the analogy maybe back in the 70's I'd be on a CB radio talking funny to prospects.....
"Breaker Breaker do you wanna buy a house good buddy? Or do you know some who wants to buy a house? I look forward to sharing some great info about new and used homes as well as open houses and price reductions from time to time."
I think the time invested in 140 characters is not something I really, really need to worry about, good buddy.

Now that is when Twitter will just get weird...if people start soliciting me on there.. I already get enough spam, and telemarketers to last a lifetime
