Usually my Clients come over to my home office since I have lots of good stuff on my computers here, as well as my tracking sheets for each of my Clients.
Today, though, I thought it would be nice to go over to my Client's house since she lives out near Mission Bay. That would give me a great opportunity to get my daily walk in on the sands at the beach.
So I got up very early to miss rush hour traffic and headed to the beach. I got a three-hour casual stroll in before heading over to my Client's house. Since I've always loved pictures of flying birds, I decided that my goal today would be to focus on seagulls and see what kind of flying seagull pictures I could get.
I found two seagulls that were playing with each other, and when I walked up, they decided to play with me. They would fly off the shore and come back, landing about 50 feet away. I'd walk towards them, and they'd do it again. On and on for about thirty minutes. Here is a slide show on my two Flying Seagulls. Feel free to leave a comment telling me how I did.

This week's blog posts (they will open in a new window)
The pictures are great Russel its just that I don't have fond memories of seagulls. After 23 years in the Navy where all my duty stations were either ships or bases located right at the waters edge seagulls have been the cause of numerous dry cleaning bills!!!!
First, let me say that is amazing that you walked for three hours. That is just outstanding. Your photos are full of wonder as it wonder-ful. I've always wondered why seagulls have wandered so far inland to a particular mall parking lot in Kennett Square, The ocean is about 2 hours away by car. Guess, I need to research seagulls.
Oooh, ooooh, these are marvelous. I had to go to "Slide" to see them. Are they suppose to be embedded in your blog?
I particularly like the one near the middle, the first one with the wingspan spread so wide and the one near the end, just at lift off. I wish I could do that. Only in my flying dreams, I guess.
Hey, Dan - Surely you're not implying that the seagulls were responsible for dry cleaning bills. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever - LOL.
Hey, Andrea - I love the camera and I'm not even to the rapid shot feature - LOL.
Hey, Lou - I'm really becoming addicted to my walk immediately after ActiveRain. I wish I didn't have to work so much so that I could only schedule one inspection a day instead of two. Then I'd have time each and every day to play around with my toy.
Hey, Christine - Thanks. What I'm most enjoying is actually getting out into San Diego more each day to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer.
Hey, Diane - Thanks. That slide show was used with many different exposure settings. Now I have to go back and look at the pictures that had too much movement, or too much light, and see what the settings were. One of the cool features of this camera is that all of the camera info is recorded along with the picture - shutter speed, focal length, ISO, F stop, etc.
Hey, Janice - I've seen seagulls at every big lake I've ever been to, so I think probably their name is a misnomer. They should be called "sand gulls" or maybe "shore gulls."
Hey, Dinah Lee - I know some computers have problems with the slide show, which leads me to want to check out other slide show utilities to see if they are more backward compatible with older and/or slower computers, like my laptop.
Hey, Dedra - They are embedded in the blog post, but some computers, including my laptop, have problems with it. I'm going to be looking for other slide show utilities to see if they all have problems.
Hey, Tony - I started loving seagulls as a youth in northern Utah. They were everywhere because of the Great Salt Lake. And then moving to the Coastal Bend in South Texas kept them around, as did living in Houston. Now I'm in San Diego. Everywhere I go there are seagulls! LOL
Hey, Matt - Zoey the Cool Cat loves birds. She would like to jump up and catch one and go to town on it. Oh. Wait. That's the wrong kind of "like," isn't it. PETA might get upset if I let Zoey the Cool Cat catch a bird when I'm perfectly capable of feeding her processed cat food -- LOL.
Hey, Sally and David - I was living in Brigham City, Utah, when "The Birds" was released. Mom wouldn't let me go see it, which I didn't understand because it was about birds. So a friend and I skipped school one afternoon and snuck into the theater to see it -- despite the fact that we both were good Mormon children from good Mormon familes.... I think. The film title was, of course, somewhat of a misnomer, but the film did get me interested in horror films and books. I wonder if that's good or bad -- LOL.
