I'm in a great mood today.

I attended the San Antonio Board Of Realtors® Town Hall meeting today for a special presentation on social media.  I was excited to see so many agents there.  I hope they all took something out of it and will join those of us already out and about in the social media world.  The video will explain why I'm so excited, but I hate to just throw a video up without any text.

People from Twitter I met face to face today:

epodcaster (Jennifer Navarrete - Champion of All Things Social Media in San Antonio)

florenceterrell (Florence Terrell - 2009 Chairman Of The Board SABOR - just joined Twitter this morning!)

kgbtexas (Sean Wood - KGBTexas Public Relations/Advertising (speaker today))

kristinmoran (Kristin Moran - Do you not know her already?)

pat8635 (Pat O'Brien - Another San Antonio ActiveRain member and part of RE/MAX Access)

rteplitsky (Rich Teplitsky - KGBTexas Public Relations/Advertising (speaker today))

sahomes (Patti Lora - Who I met via her husband (a non-Realtor®) on Twitter)

sheilamoran (Sheila Moran - the other half of Sisters That Sell)

Shelia and Kristin nabbed a photo as well, so hopefully that will make its appearance on ActiveRain soon!

Matt,

Thanks so much for the great recap. We've gotten some good feedback from Travis and the folks at SABOR, but getting this kind of feedback from someone who is out there, in the social media realm, Tweeting, that's huge. Thanks so much.

Sean

Matt - I am so bummed that I missed it this morning!  I had some things come up, but I heard that you got to finally meet (in person)  three of my office buds!  Great recap, thank you for sharing!

Kristin - I had my iPhone in my pocket, but didn't even think to pull it out for a photo.  D'oh!  It was great to meet everyone finally.  It's funny how you feel like you know someone, but yet you've never met them in person.  I still getting amazed by that about the internet.  I met Florence once before (my orientation at SABOR) and thought she was a great woman.  She seemed to be open to everything around her.  I overheard her having so many different discussions with ease.  I'm really excited to see her on Twitter and although I know there will be a learning curve, her willingness to try is what excited me the most.  I hope to see more of that at SABOR.  I sent Esther from the Board an email and hope to talk to her about some of the discussion we were having (about having smaller workshop like groups to really help get people in tune - thought that was a great idea).  I regret not going to a Town Hall before...it really excited me.  Of course all the extra surrounding it helped (meeting everyone, getting a shout out in front of the crowd (c'mon, I used to be in a band, I still live for that I guess), twittering an event).  I'm going to meet with Colleen Pence next week about the Free-Event stuff, so we should get together and talk soon too.

Ginger - As you can see by my long winded response to Kristin, it really charged me up.

Sean - I was just happy when you said it was ok to bury your head in your phone.  Everyone around me probably thought I was being rude, when all I wanted to do was share what I was hearing!  I have to say as someone who knows a thing or two about social media, I liked your presentation because it wasn't so plain vanilla as to bore me to tears, but not so advanced as to bore others to tears.  I went to a blogging class once and I almost hung myself out of boredom.  It barely had anything to do with blogging, it was more a list of sites you can blog on - which you covered in what...20 seconds?  This was an hour long class.  Ugh.  It also added some excitment to the mix that I knew you before the SABOR announcement (and in fact heard it from you first) that you'd be there.  It kind of helped show the power of social media to me (not that I needed reinforcement).  I'm actually working on a post about Realtors® and social media that I'll let you know when it's done.  I think you'll understand the point I'm trying to make.  Great presentation from both of you (and great overall work on Twitter for your clients - I'm always impressed and have wound up being interested in several things I might not be without you...your work is working).

Jeanna - I looked over at the table and thought you might be there.  We'll meet soon enough I'm sure.  It was worth going to, so I hate to say you missed it, but you did.  Perhaps Sean will wow us another day!

Hi Matt, Glad you spent the day in the air conditioned SABOR building and not out in the awful humidity showing property like I did! :o)

Shirley - I know what you mean.  This humidity is harsh.  I'm sitting here at 6AM and already I'm feeling like the humidity is going to be brutal today.  Looks like we had some showers overnight outside, so I guess the humidity reached the breaking point.  Try to stay cool out there, drink lots of water, and try to avoid foreclosures when you can (those things can be brutal without the A/C).

Matt - Sounds like your board is forward thinking and I love the story about the two ladies helping another set up a Twitter account. Of course I also love the fact someone outside the industry knows Google is not a scraper:)

Best!

Paula - You have to meet Florence Terrell to really appreciate it.  She's trying and although she may never be a prolific Twitter user I tip my hat to anyone who wants to understand what's going on, even if they may not adopt it into their own business practices.  The two that helped her are two great agents here in town that I really admire.  And when they said "MIBOR" you would have been proud of how quickly my ears perked up.  I was ready to stand up and yell "Amen brother!"

Sheila - Awesome to meet you as well.  I was really excited to put voices to the names (although I have to say, you both sounded how I expected you to sound).  Also great watching you and Kristin work with Florence.  I felt a bit giddy when Kristin said "See, you're now following @rerockstar."  How cool is it to have Florence follow you!  Meeting you in person also cemented my thought that you two are as good as I thought you were.
