It has to be a unique individual, it's a tough sell to bring someone that is willing to share their paychecks with their customers.
Matt, the reason why you're having trouble is because no Oregon real estate broker wants to get their real estate license revoked for providing incentives to Sellers or Buyers. I respect that you believe strongly in Redfin's model and you have certainly made a valiant attempt at pushing back against the trending tide of realtor opinion about Redfin here on Active Rain, however our State laws are very clear on providing incentives.
Redfin may find a loophole or explore an entirely new system for the Oregon market, but they will do so while undergoing an incredible amount of scrutiny from the real estate community and governmental agencies which will cause a qualified broker to question whether they want to take that kind of pressure on. I'm not an agent in the Portland Metro area so Redfins presence has no effect on my market, but since you were perplexed about the response to your call for brokers I thought you might be interested in knowing why you're not receiving more applicants.
Thanks for the feedback Tarris. We'll update our job description and make it clear what our intention is for dealing with the refund that we offer in other cities.
