If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.A couple of weeks ago I was at the San Diego Zoo during the late afternoon and, as I was leaving, asked one of the Zoo personnel when the best time would be to visit the Zoo in order to see as many creatures as possible roaming around their exhibits. He quickly said that the best time is when the Zoo opens first thing in the morning because most of the wildlife have been fed, so they are roaming around either eating or exercising to use up some of the calories that they just ate.

So I guess most of my readers know that I would have to go to the Zoo early some morning to see what I could see, and for your late-evening enjoyment today, I present to you the finest slide show I have yet to do because I love the subject matter so much. Hope you enjoy it, too!

Russell, if you ever come to DC, I really want to show you the National Zoo.  Feeding the cheetahs early in the morning is the best.

Russell, some great pictures here. How early, is early?

I think the San Diego Zoo is great.

I have a SD Zoo story from when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I'll post on that sometime, maybe.

Does Zoey like watching animal shows -- the picture of her there in front of the computer seems to say she might.

Hey, Patricia - I think we have a date. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Hey, Andrew - I walked around Balboa Park first, which is open 24/7, and then head to the Zoo which opens at 9:00 a.m.

Hey, Bob and Carolin - Zoey the Cool Cat likes watching anything as long as she can plop her furry body in front of whatever I'm trying to watch - television, computer monitor, etc. Interestingly, I have a very old screen saver on one of my computers, and when it kicks in, she loves to sit there and following the graphics all over the screen. Unfortunately, she has scratched at the screen a couple of times, so I've had to tell her "No," which she understands, but that doesn't mean she likes it.

Hey, Sally and David - We can sneak in with our annual pass, but only during certain times when they invite their members to sneak in. I'm waiting for the next time.

Russel, two things:

1) sorry, I mis-spelled your name the other day.

2) I wrote that post about my visit to the Zoo when I was 7 or 8 years old.
