The following photo was taken near Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone National Park.  Can you guess what type of animal is seen swimming in the photo?

I'm guessing beaver. Eventhough I'm not sure about those ears, Gerry!

Mary,

It is not a beaver.  Thanks for giving it a try.

Is it some kind of a cat?  For whatever reason it reminds me of my cats when they are wet.

Marchel,

No cat either.  But it rhymes.  That should be a give away for the next person who enters a guess.

Marchel,

Not a rat but almost there!  Do a search on "Ondatra zibethicus" and you will get the correct answer.

Hey Gerry,

beautiful photo of the water. The animal looks like an otter. We shall see!

Tony,

Thanks for the positive feedback.  It is not an otter.  I thought my comments above would have given it away.   I will provide the right answer by the end of today (Sunday), if no one comes up with it first.

It is a muskrat!  Do I win a prize??  You gave me an easy hint by the way!  We went to Yellowstone years ago before the fire and then after the fire.  We saw more animals (by far) after the fire.
