AirwolfI still play baseball with my son for one on one time, we still have family game night, we eat dinner together, but I recently started spending $8.95 a month so my son and I could spend about 46 minutes a day together… just my son and me.

Why 46 minutes? Well that was the length of TV shows back in 1983 and he started showing interest in the show Airwolf. This was a show that I loved as a kid and the fact that he wanted to see it was enough for me to order Netflix so we could watch them online everyday.

I love spending time with my son and though it is watching TV, I feel this is something we can do together. I would rather know what he is watching and if he likes what dad used to like, why the heck not watch it with him? The next series I hope he shows interest in are Knight Rider and Buck Rogers.

That is awesome! I watch films and shows with the kids all the time. Nothing beats family time with the wee ones. I'm thinking of taking up basketball because my seven year old is interested. He watched Monster House and was soooo tickled pink about that house bouncing a ball that I can't stop him bouncing balls in the house. He's hooked on the idea now. Go figure. :-)

Good p[ost . My son used to listen to oldies with me in a car a lot and one day when he was about 7 we were in a store and they were playing a sixties song( I forget which one) But he started to hum along with it and the people just stopped and looked at him. It was great fun.

Todd - My son has started showing a lot of interest in the old Twilight Zone shows, which I loved when I was a kid.  He found my "Twilight Zone Companion" book from the early 80's and has been reading it, and now we Tivo the show and enjoy it together.  I can relate!

I kind of like Quantum Leap, myself.  Though I do have vague memories of "Airwolf".  This is a wonderful idea, Todd.  Good for the both of you!

And why doesn't it surprise me that Crouch & Company like the old Twilight Zones?  I love them too.  Rod Serling was the man!

Happy Father's Day, Todd!!

Todd,

Airwolf? My kids were both in school when that first ran.

Kids learn best by osmosis! You can't do any better than spending time sharing random thoughts. You're doing we my friend.

Todd: Right on... I'm an old Star Trek fan. When the kids use to come over on weekends they'd be watching TV while I was making dinner... They'd land on a channel with Star Trek and skip by as fast as possible in hopes that I didn't notice. We've had a lot of laughs over the years with that...

Then, the new Star Trek movie came out, which they loved... Now Dad doesn't look so corny after all and they actually show interest in the series and movies...

Todd, My daughter and I love to curl up and watch reruns of the "I Love Lucy " show. It's hilarious and I do consider it time well spent with my daughter.

It has been one great Father's Day. Today I got my newest T-shirt with all their hand prints on it and got to see how much they really have grown in one year. Also making homemade ice cream right now and hopefully in about 30 minutes will get ice cream and brownies to follow our BBQ chicken. (Just got done watching one more episode online with son...Still love that show)

I understand why he likes Airwolf. My dad, brother, and I used to watch it together. I also liked Knight Rider, but I didn't much care for Buck Rogers. I put it in the same category as Lost In Space. And I really didn't like the "beedy beedy beedy" robot in Buck Rogers.

And Happy Father's Day!

I have found the activity is secondary to the opportunity. Spending time together that is dedicated means the most to them.
