Bart Simpon In A CrowdLet's face it, the world is getting crowded. Something like 6 billion plus, last I recollected. Active Rain too. No longer 20,000 Members but 150,000+ now. This is all good. Many more people to interact with and to look at it positively to "help each other out." BUT, a downside to crowds is it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. Some people attend large churches for exactly this reason. To remain incognito. Some attend small churches for the opposite reason to contribute. So think of yourself as Bart Simpson. What we need to know is

How To Get Bart Simpson To Stand Out In A Sea Of Humanity.

Here are your tips in this area:

1) Always be yourself. Let YOUR voice and personality shine. The world needs you not a cheap imitation of someone else.

2) Approach situations as a problem solver and a resource. We don't need anymore whiners that just take up space.

3) Be visible. Even if uncomfortable about it, toot your own horn. Let others recognize what you are doing. Then they will remember you.

4) Practice the art of being positive. There is so much negativity all around you, the mere fact that you have a good attitude will stand out just like you hit your thumb with a hammer. It will be so obvious.

5) Focus most of your time on high priorities. This will enable you to be one of those minority people who actually get things done. Just a great way to stand out. Results oriented.

6) Communicate, communicate, communicate, then over communicate. This is so poorly done by the masses even if you step this up a little notch EVERYONE will notice how different you are.

7) Dress and groom well and have a clean car inside and out. Your image says something about the respect you have for yourself and the good person you project to be with others. Check those shoes. If they are good looking you are probably good looking.

8) Finally learn from others why they are standing out and you can find their Bart Simpson selves in the crowd and turn that around and mentor others that need your help. Those you mentor will be a solid base of supporters that will look up to you FOREVER. You will never be hidden in their eyes.

The world may be getting crowded all around you, but with your high visibility self your presence in the ocean of people one way or another will make a huge impact.

Gary -  Number one & number two stick out and seem vital to me.  This is all good advice and I try to practice most of it, though I guess I need new shoes and please don't look into my car.

Gary-Outstanding advice. I have come a long ways on a lot of these. Hope sneakers count as shoes. Unless I am in church. <SMILE>

Wow Gary. You always amaze me with your wisdom. Have you ever thought about writing a book? Wish I could bottle up your thoughts... we could sell them and make millions. ;)))

Great ideas Gary, I'm with you on all but the car thing --- no car washes and miles of dirt roads-- does not a clean car make.  When I drive in to the city - my car stands out in a bad way :-(

Gary - Great tips. And, I think every agent needs to know and understand their competition to be able to stand out in the crowd.

Gary-

A "printable" post. You'll find your words under fridge magnets, for certain.
