If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.I'm rapidly learning that the wildlife at the San Diego Zoo is just like Zoey the Cool Cat. When they wake up in the morning, they like to eat. After that, they'll poop and then go back to sleep. So the best time to visit the zoo is first thing in the morning, and they open at 9:00 a.m., not early enough for me, but when you get some lemons, well, make some lemonade.

So my daily very early-morning walks two our of the past three days have been over in Balboa Park, with a quick 30-minute trip to the Zoo at 9:00 a.m. If you have a Zoo in your city, I'd highly suggest going first thing in the morning rather than in the afternoon.

Following is my reward for going early this morning. Is this not the most beautiful lizard you have ever seen in your life? (If the slide show doesn't work on your computer, click here to visit it at slide.com.)

Russell, this really is one beautiful lepidosauria. The San Diego Zoo even has a website/webpage for theirs.

What did this one eat? I'll not ask about the activities that followed!

The lizard is very pretty.  Reminds me of some of the beautiful fish in the ocean.  God really painted these creatures to beauty.

Hey, Andrew - I used to visit the Zoo's web site often. Now, with my new toy, I just zip on over to the Zoo. Much more fun!

Hey, Rhonda - I'd love to know where this lizard lives naturally that requires it to have such an unusual color scheme. I can't imagine that this is good camouflage against predators.

Hey, Andrea - I'm not usually left speechless when I'm over at the Zoo, but I was with this one, mainly because the sun was shining, the lizard is somewhat iridescent so it was sparkling in the sun, and I just can't imagine how this color scheme helps it hide from predators in its natural environment.

Very beautiful lizard.

Eat, poop, sleep - that seems to be the most important things for all of us!  lol
