Blue Hair Lady RealtorGrowing up it was interesting watching the high flying lady Realtors. As a teenager I remember often the "real" Realtor lady never looked like the picture on the business card. I am starting to think

Why The Blue Hair Lady Realtor May Be Going The Way Of The Dodo Bird.

Nothing against blue haired ladies young or old. It is just a symbol for sticking with things the way they used to be and not moving with the times. Some of these blue haired ladies do not show you the house you want based on your criteria. Their virtual tours or video presentations are typically non-existent. They do not embrace social media like blogging to reach out and network and communicate with the masses, especially up and coming younger demographics.

Overall, it is an attitude of business as usual or business as of yesteryear. None of us want to turn ourselves into blue haired ladies. Unless we are making the big bucks as Cyndi Lauper.

Keep your skills fresh. Learn new techniques. Above all in any career in real estate learn the trends, stay up with the times and be OPEN MINDED. Your younger clients might actually dig that blue hair!

I agree we have to embrace the future, but much of the skills that made these "blue hairs" successful still apply today.  Picking up the phone and making those calls and good old fashioned face to face networking being just a couple of them.

LOL Gary, where do these ideas come from? Very true, and I know what you mean. We all have to embrace the new ways, learn new things, and take from the past what is good. It's a new world out there...

This is so funny Gary. I used to live in an area a long time ago where all the little old ladies had a blue tinge to their tight perms. Interesting memories of a past life.

Gary - Here's the before and after. I think I better remain a brunette!

I think in many industries you will have groups of people who will not adopt to change.

Gary - I have dealt with some great "blue-haired" ladies during my real estate career, but generally this is the most difficult demographic for me to get along with, for some of the reasons you named above.

It is true in any circle, any business or profession or technology.  If you don't keep up with the times...you will get left behind.  Your blue haired lady looks like a voodoo doll!

I seem to recall there is some kind of rinse that women used to put in their hair to give it that blue twinge. And now everybody wants blue hair. Go figure.

Actually, it's interesting that you note how some agents don't look like their business cards. I like to change my hairstyle every so often -- in fact, I'm thinking about cutting it really short for this summer because it's so danged hot in Sacramento, but then I think, crap, I'd have to change the photo on my business cards!

Gary,

Get rid of the gray and go blue, maybe?

You are so right!  We do have to keep up with latest.  Therefore, it is a good idea to continue with education in your field to keep you abreast of the latest.

Gary,

You are priceless! Change, it's all about change. You will be left in the dust in any business if you are not receptive to new ideas and constant retraining!

Plenty of blue-haired old real estate ladies - grandmothers and even great-grandmothers -are Activerain stars and more involved in social media, video, etc. than most of the 30-year olds in their own offices.  Fortunately, they're not blue-haired, althouth they do rely on hair color to hide the gray.  LOL.

I was about to dye my salt and pepper hair blue but now I think I leave it as is.  Sounds like my time will be better spent learning.

My hair has been many colors but, it has not been blue since the 80's and that is a long story. The only constant in life is change.

Staying FRESH at any age is the key...  I'll never understand the blue hair though.
