23 Comments on This IS my new phone!
I don't think you did it on purpose (who knows... may have been your shish)... but some stuff changed, and I don't know how to change it back...
I am hopeful that the operating system has improved to minimize the crashes of the past -- I like the idea of multiple applications running at the same time.
Alan...Always searching for tech advice, my old plan is up in July, and it will be time to get something with more than just a phone app. So thanks ... Let me know how it works after a week or so of break-in or break down..?
I have been holding on to my old phone for sometime now and I know that soon our time together will end. It has been good to me, but one day it will be traded in for a sleek new one. That's one sharp looking gadget you have there Alan.
so far, no crashes, Scott... but then my old one didn't crash when it was new either.
Steve - I only know one other Realtor in my area who has one... and thus far, he likes it too
JL - thanks... but what do you think of the new phone? ;-)
I had a Palm Treo some time ago and until I switched to the Blackberry, I thought it was the best phone ever.
Now I think that about my Blackberry.
And I'll say the same about my iPhone if I ever get one!
But if the Pre is working for you and you love it.......by all means enjoy it!
"Very sleek, very small, very light, very cool, very cutting edge"......Sounds like you're describing yourself!!!
I tried the blackberry ... didn't like it much... it's kinda a right brain / left brain thing... i just didn't care for the way it worked.
Alan, looks even more fun than my I-Phone, which I have to admit I really love - even with the AT&T factor.
Alan "what the puck" that's the charger? Well if you really like it then go for it.
Patricia - I'm envious... I really want the i-phone... but I'm not willing to fight the AT&T factor... that's my phone of choice.... I even asked Spring if I could purchase an unlocked phone, and bring it to them... but it won't work on their network. - heavy sigh -
I know, Larry... the puck is very cool technology... very cool indeed.
Will it open lockboxes? I want to stay with Palm and my 680 is getting a little sickish but I want one item to carry in houses. So does it work with the iboxes?
Barbara - I don't believe it has infrared, so I'm gonna say it probably won't.
Pretty cool, but I'm sticking with my Blackberry. Wonder whether I'm right or left brain? LOL
Mike in Tucson
I'm not really sure, which is which, Mike.... all I know is that blackberry isn't MY brain.
Alan you are correct, the Pre does not have infrared. Ideally we would like to be able to use our existing eKEY fob and the Bluetooth in the Pre to open lock boxes. Unfortunately, WebOS is a completely new operating system, and the way the SDK (Software Development Kit) is currently set up, we do not have the necessary access to the Bluetooth in the Pre. If we had that access, we would be able to use our eKEY Fob to translate the Bluetooth to IR, and communicate with the lock box.
Thanks,
Greg
Greg - thanks for the update... so if Palm would give you access, we could use bluetooth to access Supra Lockboxes. Unfortunately, in our area, they have opted for [shudder] Sentrilocks, and we no longer.. have Supra Lockboxes here.... - heavy sigh -
Alan, I was a Palm 700 user and I am happy that I waited for the Pre. The puck charger is way cool and so is the phone.
the puck charger is the coolest thing about the phone... I'm still having some "learning curve" issues with the phone. the touch screen is so sensitive that I often hang up on a call I'm trying to answer.
Alan:
I got mine today. Any follow up from you!! Do you still like it?g
you know, Carol. When I first got it... I really didn't like it at all. It's wasn't intuitive, it came with no manual, i kept touching the wrong buttons with my sausage fingers... But I've really grown to like it... it's fast, it allows me to flip back and forth from app to app... it's small, and lightweight.
It's still no i-phone... if Sprint offered an i-phone today.. I'd switch in a minute. But, for me, it's the best thing out there, as I'm not crazy about the way that blackberry's function.
