Lake Travis - Austin TX -Lakefront Homes sit nicely above the water.  I was out on the boat this weekend, and I decided to take some pictures of some of the gorgeous houses on Lake Travis.  Many people think that "lake front" means that the house is right there at the lake and they can just walk out their backdoor to the dock...

Take a look at some of these pictures and let me know if you still think this!

Granted, the water is a little low right now, but with many of these homes, even if you raise the water level 50 feet, you still can't just walk out your backdoor and into the water.

Many people also assume that a lake front property automatically has a dock. As many of the pictures showed you, this isn't true either.  Yes, there are some docks, but many just tie their boats up to the water's edge while they climb those steep steps up to their house.

But man, what gorgeous views some of them have!!

Here's a picture of the Oasis. The Oasis is a very popular restaurant overlooking Lake Travis. People like to go there just to watch the sunset and then they all applaud and then move about their business.

OK, Donna.  So "lakefront" really means there are no houses between you and the lake, not that it is necessarily "on the lake".  Good to know.  I don't see a problem here.  Just a little hike between the trees, right? ;)

What beautiful pictures Donna! Lake front homes but no dock, well OK, as long as I have a view like some of the homes here will do just fine. I'll go pack my bags! Ha!

Donna,

I think these would be water view not waterfront.

What do you think?

Donna,

What a great view.  Looks like some really expensive real estate

Heather, Exactly!

Greg, No joke!

Terrie, I'll meet you at the airport... wait, are you pre-APPROVED?

Brenda, Nope, they're water front because they have access to the water from their property... it's just a long walk, or some have the mechanical bucket that takes them up and down the ladder.

Richard, VERY expensive... We're going wakeboarding on Lake Austin tomorrow, so I'll have more picture from the other side of the damn.

Donna-Great looking homes, we are still waiting for Summer to arrive here in Mass. We have had 15 days in a row with below normal temps.

hey, how much are those things anyway? I wonder if i can get 100% financing with  6% seller concession along with a seller finance of say 90% at a 3.5% interest rate. Will you represent me and give me back 1/2 your commission? I want the golf membership to come with it.. and a 25k decorator allowance. I wanna borrow your supra key too. Somebody needs to buy my lunch and take my calls at 7:18 every morning.

Sigh

Hi Donna.  My brother owns a small home on Lake Travis...

I hear there is pretty good bass fishing there!

Hi Donna  I used to visit Austin frequently.  Absolutely my favorite city in Texas, hands down.  Fond memories of my youth on 6th street. I spoke to Craig Rutman about it and he mentioned your blog.  Hey,  you could offer hang gliding lessons from that house!  LOL

Hi Donna, just saw your pictures of Lake Travis.  It brought back memories.  Way back about a million years ago when I first got my real estate licence, I worked for this company that sent leads out, we would go to people's houses and give them a presentation about Lake Travis, sign them up and they got a free trip to the sales site in Lake Travis... flight and accomodations.  Then the closers got a hold of them.

They flew us in to check out the properties, beautiful place, looks a lot more built up now.  Never made any money at that, didn't do it long.

Joseph, We're on day 13 of over 100... today's high is 107!

Greg, I'm up at 7:18 every morning, but I won't take your calls!

Ken, I'm not into fishing as we usually push them aside for our wakeboarding, but my father in law likes to fish from his dock.

Nevin, There was parasailing last weekend.

Al and Peggy, Door to door talking about Lake Travis?  Yikes!
