DRIVING AROUND NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND MARYLAND COUNTRY ROADS, as I often do, one of the nicest things to view is the wildflowers.

THE TIGER LILYalways announces the arrival of SUMMER.  This year, I spotted the first Tiger Lilies in Lovettsville on the 21st of June.

SUMMER TIME IS HERE!

These Tiger Lilies blossomed in the moat in front of my home on the 21st of June.

Love them.  I like modern daylillies too but there is nothing like the old fashioned orange long leggy tiger lillies. Great photos.

Lenn I have travel through Northern Virginia and Maryland, and I would agree with you that it is a beautiful part of the Country, especially at this time of the year.

A moat, and tiger lillies -- what more could one ask for? Hope you have a spectacular day, Lenn!

Lenn, I love tiger lillies. This is the first year in almost 10 that mine haven't bloomed. Don't know what I did. Everything else bloomed just fine.

BTW, I just read your blog about venors calling. It was excellent. Didn't have time to read the comments. Hope to come back to them too.

Sally.  I love country too.  I've been watching for the Tiger Lilies for weeks.  They arrived on the first day of sumer.  I love it when a plan comes together.

Susie.  Flowers are very important.  Nature's gift.

George. Indeed it is.  Around every corner is a lovely something to brighten our day.

Mary.  I didn't ask for the moat.  The country ordered it.  The Tiger Lilies are wild.  The best kind.

Connie.  The ones in my area by the road sides are wild.  They're spectacular.  BTW, I found the comments on both of the blogs about cold calling fascinating.  Very little support for it.

As I mature so does my fondness for the changes in nature. Lilies are a beautiful thing to behold this time of hear in our area. Inside, I can't believe I am watching on  a daily basis the flowering of an orchid, which I was sure I would kill.

Janice.  I'm not going to tackle orchids.  However, I have a sun room full of basil, oregano, thyme and parsley.

I don't buy Italian herbs any more.

Well, that put a smile on my face:) At least somebody is having summer this year:) We are still very much in louzy weather here, in Massachusetts. Maybe it will go North now?

Joanna.  I believe that you've had even more rain than we, if that's possible.  We're a good inch over normal rain fall for spring.
