Are REOs and short sales abating in your area? Are more investors starting to look at properties again? Is the sale of land especially waterfront and in hot development zones getting more interest in your market? As with any short term crystal ball reading, ask where is your market heading? Get a jump on the rest by preparing yourself to see the new picture.

So often in life the ones that are the best resources to people in fulfilling their needs and solving their problems put the puzzle together faster and more efficiently than the following herd.

Like early adopters are to new product acceptance, the quick puzzle solvers are the "visionaries" who figure out the newest trends before the masses catch on. Pay attention. Read what is going on locally. Be the puzzle master and your sky will always be happy and blue.

Great piece. Sometimes, like an airplane pilot who's lost control, its hard to determine whether you are headed up or down!

As long as my outlook doesn't turn blue. You have to stay ahead of the pack to stay in the game.

Gary - It always about seeing the bigger picture... Often, we focus solely on the pieces... Another nice post...

Great post Gary! In order to get ahead we certainly do need to work on putting the puzzle together faster than others. And Ryan is right, often we just look at the pieces, not at the big picture.

Gary - Great analogy ! I think the puzzle is being put back together from coast to coast, albeit slowly. We all need to be on top of our local markets and more importantly, help our clients and the consumers to put their puzzle together to help them accomplish their goals. And also put it together and complete it for us as individuals as well to further our careers ! Always love your posts !

The puzzle is getting put together from coast to coast. Our local markets differ and it is important to look at all the pieces. Continuing to be responsive to our customers with good sound advice (even though we do not have a crystal ball) is the key to help them make sound real estate decisions. Always enjoy the pictures and analogies you create!

Gary, So is it ok if I let others put the pieces back together - I'm really too tired to play.

Gary, Puzzles can be such a challange and it's always so nice to actually complete one. You're right, you can't do that if you can't see the big picture of it. Trying to stay ahead can be a challange as well but WELL worth it in the end!

It's a lot of work to do what we do in the real estate world. I learn something new everyday.

Hi Gary !

Education is the key in my opinion to staying ahead in 'different' climates. The shift in consumer focus and positions with things like foreclosures and short sales makes it imperitive to stay on top of how thse type of transactions work.

As you said, the successful one know how to put the pieces of the puzzle together quicker thean the herd ... love that !!!

I think we need to get investor confidence back up if we want to recover, they not only by the real estate but, they also are the holder of a lot of the notes on real estate.
