Yesterday, Chris Ann Cleland found her way to downtown Washington, DC, and we took advantage of the chance to meet for lunch.  We had tapas in Chinatown at a little place across the street from the National Museum of Crime and Punishment (yes, we have museums for just about everything in this town).

Over the years, I've had the chance to meet many of my blog buddies in person, and if you are new to Active Rain and haven't tried it, I really suggest that you do!

I've subscribed to Chris Ann's blog for a while now and have enjoyed reading it.  But after meeting her in person, it's even more fun!

In the DC/Baltimore area, we get together at the drop of a hat!  As newbie bloggers, Brian Block, Cindy Jones and I met with Margaret Woda for a wonderful lunch.  Then there was Inman Connect in New York, NAR conferences, and bloggers visiting their kids here in DC.  Of course, there are lots of Active Rain folks at the RE Bar Camps!  And when I go to New York, I try to spend some fun time with Mitchell Hall.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you are going to a city where any of your favorite bloggers live, drop them an email and get together.

It's really, really fun!

Patricia, I just had the chance to have lunch here with Chris Fisher and her Mom Terryann.  It was fun.  I also had a sleepover a year ago November with Thesa Chambers and Chris Tesch.  When you actually meet it is like you already know each other which is way cool.

Andrea, something tells me a bunch of us should head up to Connecticut to help you milk cows!

Margaret, and it's fun when they descend on us from places like New Jersey!

Vickie, if there is a RE Bar Camp in your area, that's a great opportunity.

Rhonda, it's little dishes of Spanish food, and quite yummy.

And Sheldon, I love Chris Ann's blog, too!  And even more so now!

Hi Pat!  One of these days I'm going to make it to your area and meet you ALL!  I have had a blast the past few months meeting others who are AR members from across the country.  I wish that we had some sort of gathering here and perhaps I should begin the planning, huh?!

Patricia,

On AR and face to face it is very different. I am so used to "people in the computer" that I am not sure there is anything to add, but judging by your experience I might be wrong.

Pat - good for you. Sounds like a great time. I have had multiple opportunities to meet fellow bloggers from AR and it is always a terrific experience. I echo your sentiments that everyone should do this when they have the chance,

Patricia - I went to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and love the Maryland/Virginia/DC area.  It is a great place to explore.  As a history buff, there is no better place to do so.  I don't know about your experience.  However, when I meet Activerain members in person, it is like I already know them and understand their business philosophy, ethics, etc.  I have had the pleasure of meeting a few in our area like Don Rogers and Pamela Williamson and they were both interesting.  In fact, Don has attended some of my classes and has played a round of golf with me.  Little did he know that these "social"events were actually the Inquisition.  Yet, he kindly and patiently answered my obtuse questions.  I have also talked with a number of people over the telephone.  Pretty much the same - the best of the best and very giving - so thanks Margaret Rome, Julie Chapman, Liz Moras, Kent Simpson, Vegas Bob and more.

Hi Pat... Once I meet a blogger in person, reading their posts is never the same.  The meeting gives me a different insight into them as a person that just reading their blog ever did!  Glad to hear that you had such a nice lunch with Chris Ann!

Pat, so many bloggers to meet... so little time.  It seems like our first get-together was so long ago and that we've known each other forever.  That's how time flies in the blogosphere.

And, of course, if you get to meet the person in person it reinforces your "good judgment" to refer clients to your fellow Rainer and blogger which, of course, equals MONEY!

Thanks for your entry Pat.  I was actually thinking about the same thing.  I will be in Vegas this weekend, and thought maybe I should meet up with Vegas Bob.  Your blog got me thinking...thanks!
