Each morning for the past several days I've taken my early morning walk over at Balboa Park with a quick 30-minute trip to the San Diego Zoo to cool down.
Early morning is feeding time, so it's fun and easy for me to see the wildlife eating and having their own kind of fun. I found two baby monkeys playing on the swing, and when one got tired and laid down on the swing, the other one did what helpful siblings do: he pushed the swing, gently.

This week's blog posts (they will open in a new window)
Morning Russel....well that's pretty awesome, you walk yourself down to the zoo and catch the early morning feeding fun. I think I would probably spend waaaay too much time if a great zoo like yours were so accessible. The monkeys are adorable.
Funny how animals are instinctive about things....when Magic was a baby kitten....he was the runt of the litter and either his brain was too small (I think still is...) or he didn't hang with his Mom long enough to catch on to the bath thing....every morning, Cosmo (his older and much smarter "brother") would sit him down in front of the patio doors and give him a bath...Magic would turn obediently to get all his parts done....he was in no hurry to catch on to doing it himself....lesson learned...you can do TOO much !
Hey, Andrea - I never really realized how lucky I was having the Zoo so close until my doctor told me to get out more, which led to me buying a new camera, which led to me getting out more. It's just a good thing my doctor didn't tell me that back when we still had film and film processing. I'd be broke now since I'm up to 2,254 pictures in just a couple of weeks.
Hey, Toula - I like to watch them take care of each other, picking off burs and bugs, grooming each other, etc.
Hey, Gail - I do spend too much time at the Zoo, but it seems to be worth it. My blood pressure is way down, my cholesterol is way down, I've lost seven pounds in two weeks, and I have 2,254 pictures. What more can I ask? LOL
Hey, Sally and David - I think there are a couple of monkeys here where one takes continuous advantage of the helpfulness of the other one. I'm trying to learn identifying markings so that I can determine if it's really true.
Hey, Jim - Monkeys and meerkats are my favorites. Hmmmmm. M&M's! LOL

Russel, LOL, rotten monkey! How cute, you are very lucky to be able to just walk over to the zoo!
