Hi Caren....I wish - this was taken while we were traveling in the motorhome for 5 years.  The date (on the print) was June 4, 1997.  We spent 4 months getting to and back from Alaska.  It was the icing on the cake for those years of doing and going wherever the wind took us.

Oh Gail what a great shot and how wonderful to enjoy the experience of traveling and doing and going where ever the wind took you guys  I wish that would have been in our plans.  It would have been the greatest experience to look back on.

Hi Gail:

Alaska...wow!  In a motorhome.  That had to be something!!!

They look so content sitting there in that field.

Great photo.

Gail,

5 years in a motorhome must have been one heck of an experience. I can only picture you now with a peace symbol around your neck, pony tails and torn jeans.

BTW, the big horns look like they couldn't care less that you invaded their territory. Just another Florida tourist.

Rich

P.S. Tried unsuccessfully to send you a form email yesterday after your good morning comment. What a pleasant way to start my day.

Hi June....it truly was the experience of a lifetime....and one I wouldn't mind doing again, but it would have to be soon....LOL, not getting any younger.

Hi Toula....some things never change except the equipment.  We traveled from 1994 to 1999, I was using SLR not DSLR, but getting close was always the objective.  I've got 1000's of pictures from those days.

LOL @Rich.....you are so sweet and such a flatterer.  I was way past my hippie days during this period.  We did travel in style in a 38 foot deisel pusher complete with washer and dryer, no roughing it involved except when we dry camped for a week or 2 at a time when conservation of water and propane was required.  I did receive your email sent from A|R - I should have let you know, sorry....I didn't realize you thought it didn't to through.  Here's a couple pics from our first Safari, it was 34 feet.

This was on the back.

Hi Gail, sounds like you were quite the adventurer. After my Sister's Husband retired, they took a trip up the AlCan Highway and had a great time. The Bighorn Sheep look like you aren't the first tourists they've ever seen. good photo!

Hi John.....It was an amazing adventure and that's an understatement.  I want to be that free again :-)

Hi Craig...Thanks for sending the scanner it works great...LOL (inside joke ;-)  It seems all the animals I photograph just accept me being there as part of the landscape, I've not once felt fear....I think that's how it works.

Hi Patricia....they weren't bothered at all, glad you enjoy the shot....thanks for stopping by.

Hi Charles.....Canada (my birth country) has some of the most beautiful land on earth, I wish everyone could see just how magnificent Canada is.

Hi Michael...I have the heart and spirit of a wanderer, adventures are not an option...they are an important ingredient to my happiness  I'm feeling the pull big time right now, maybe that's why I was going through photos from that period.  And you're right, we were not their first tourists :-)

Hi Mary....we traveled most of the US and Canada while in that phase of our lives; how I yearn again....sigh!!!

LOL Love the pic of the big horns sitting in a field of wildflowers - awesome animals! You'll have to post some of your travelin' stories, my friend. Well, on second thought....

Hey Gail - It must be the time of the season for reminiscing. I did the cross Canada trip in an old VW van with a peace sign on it. You went in style! It might be time for all of us to become free again, lose the stress and do what is truly important. Call all of your clients and tell them you will be their tour guide for a year. Psst...Wanna buy some used motorhomes cheap? :-)

Wow, since it's been awhile for that last vacation, it's probably time for another! Especially as HOT as it is in the South right now! Great pictures as always and this one is older so you have obviously always had the knack for good photography!

Hi Russell....I'm a little confused, sorry!  It seems just a couple weeks ago I read where you mentioned a vacation.  Somehow the dates didn't seem right and I asked about it.  So when did you take that trip and how was it.  Are you now the man who came down from the mountain ;-)....and where is your blog about it?  I feel like I missed something....LOL

Hi Sharon....We don't know, but if I have a say in how to write a chapter or 2....I'm all for it.

John....was that your VAN!!!! OMG....it looks just like the Electric Kool-Aid bus.  What year was that, I'm so curious ;-)

Now Debou....there are 2 sets of traveling stories.  One before John and one with John.  Which would you be more interesting in?  Never mind......LOL

Gail - Look at that sheep on the right. . .Isn't that most contented look you have seen in a long while:-)  Here in California, we have The Dairy Council that runs ads on the Happy Cows of California.  But our Happy Cows have nothing on that sheep:-)

HOO HAA!  What I meant was it has been awhile since you were on the road taking that very cool picture!Nope, I did slip out of town for a few days with my bride but now back working way too hard. I do have a couple in the works that I will post before I leave again, this time for the Boy Scout backpacking adventure in New Mexico July 7-21...

Myrl....LOL, there sure are a bunch of ads being run for the "happy cows".  There must be a drive on to get more people drinking milk.  Yep, you gotta love the look of "Bighorn Contentment"......ahhhh

Silly HOO HAA!...I got that part.  It's the vacation your taking in July that had me confused.  Somewhere you mentioned it but I thought I saw June dates and got confused.  Hey take it easy on me, I'm a senior you know ;-)  The Boy Scout backpacking adventure sounds interesting.  That's when we get to meet the man coming down from the mountain.  I'm all clear again, can you tell...heehee

@ JIm Frimmer - I often throw my camera in my purse, and press a button on Magellan to take me to a location, I have thought about, but didn't have time to visit.  I can understand how Gail would end up in Canada taking pictures of bighorn sheep:-)

Jim...you're a silly;-)  First, I was born and raised in Canada, eh!  My hubby, John and I traveled in a motorhome full-time for 5 years from 1994-1999.  We've lived in Florida since 1978, hope that helps.  Having said all that, I would wish for a life where I could just go somewhere for a picture....wouldn't that be fun.....OH YEAH!!!

LOL @Myrl.....you're a woman after my own heart :-)  I'll post another travel pic on SS.  You gave me the idea to scan some of my better photos after seeing how well yours came out.  Thanks a bunch.

Hi Liz....as time goes on in the Rain, I find and leave little tidbits along the path.  It's a pleasant way to get to know someone....little bits at a time.  I'd be glad to talk to you about RV'ing anytime you like :-)  Have a super weekend.  Glad you like the photo too, you must have Bighorn in your vicinity.

Hello Ms Sharon...Thanks so much :-)  It's funny, I started going through boxes of pictures the last few days.  Way too many....probably threw out over 1000.  But there are some good ones, and I will post more.

We're supposed to have a lot of bighorn sheep here in Southern California, which is why there are none at the San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. Sadly, I've never seen one.
