You’ve decided to make the plunge and sell your house. But listing it with a Realtor® gives you pause, because of the commission thing.
You decide to go commando and sell it yourself.
Yep, I’ve got a sign from Home Depot. Yep, it’s on Craig’s list. And yep, I’ve bought and sold a home before. (Actually 4 years ago with a Realtor®).
I’m ready.
I even have a back-up plan to sell it on one of those do it yourself with the FSBO happy limited service, flat fee, one time shot, get the bare minimum, with 1 picture in the MLS and my personal fax number to handle all deals.
Yep, I’m ready. I figure I’ll save 6%. And if a Realtor® comes with a buyer, I’ll negotiate the fees down to 1%.
See, my house is special. We used galvanized nails when we built it and we custom painted it with the most expensive paint. Even the curtain rods are top of the line. I love my house and nobody can sell it like I can.
We’re going to have an open house every weekend. We’ll serve beer and hot dogs to all who attend. I even have my own helium tank for all the balloons
We also will place ads in the newspaper everyday. And we will plaster every telephone pole with fliers. You know … spread the word. My strategy also includes telling buyers how bad the other homes for sale in the neighborhood are compared to mine. I’ll even let them in on their weird behaviors.
Lastly, I priced it just like Zillow said. So I figure it will be sold in less than 30 days with buyers beating at my door wanting to see how beautiful our house is.
