Big Sea.. little boat.

Does it seem like you are just sailing along and letting the wind blow you where ever it wants to go? Tossing and turning through the waves of foreclosures and short sales is enough to make you green... and not with envy. So what do you do to get back on course?

Simple "Sale/Sailing" Tips.

Oar... do you have marketing plan? Put the "oar" back in the water and start marketing again.

Baggage.... Did you plan or bring too much?  Many of us did not plan for the housing market to be like this. You may need to toss out some extra baggage in order to stay afloat. Do you really need 2 cell phones?

Fishing line...  Are your business cards up to date?  Are you passing them out on a daily basis? You need to cast out more cards and they need to be eye catching.

Life preserver... is your business multi-faceted? Do you offer a full spectrum of services? If you don't, you need to pull the inflatable cord now.

Back up motor... do you have multiple streams of income? You may want to think about another side job for awhile while continuing to market your main business. Start the engine and get going.

Sails... are they even up? Social networking can really help you sail full straight ahead. Many sites like Facebook and Plaxo can interlink your messages, so you don't have to be on each one everyday.

Water... well of course you need that too, but I couldn't think of something for it. ;))

Happy sailing!

I like your analogies... business cards as fishing lines! When things slow down, we have a chance to re-group and see where we can improve.

Yes, sometimes I get into a funny writing mood when I try to make a point. I try to make sure that women and men can relate to it ;))

Thanks for the thoughtful post, Lori Kim. It's always good to be reminded of how important it is to keep marketing all the time. I appreciate the encouragement to do what it takes to broaden our range of services, too.

What perfect timing! I've been re-thinking my strategies and I'm doing a lot of the things you suggest. I just recently started on AR too. I really enjoy the blogs and it's amazing how much information I get from them!

Laurie... you are welcome Laurie. I know for us we get so wrapped up in everything that we forget to continue marketing. Glad it helped you.

Cathy... welcome to AR and fasten your seat belt for a wild and crazy time. AR offers 1st hand experience from stagers at every level. I suggest you join Staging for Newbies where you can ask questions and not feel "little". Best to you.

Rhonda... How are you girl! Haven't seen you around much.Offering additional services that YOU KNOW you can do has made a world of difference for us. This is the time to find a service that can be beneficial to the clients in your area. Say like, color consults. Or just curb appeal. Of course they won't be your big hitters and you may have to do quite a few, but at least you are still out there in the public eye. Good luck. e-me if you need more suggestions ;)

Right now I am sailing away on smooth water with a gentle breeze- but I am preparing for the stormy skies and getting my game plan ready.
