Osprey at Belmont Bay

Oer the last few months we have watched this Osprey spend hours perched in a tree outside our window.  When it is time to eat he/she flies to the river, comes back with a fish and drops it off at the nest on top of our condo building for their mate and the newly hatched fledging.

Yes you did read that correctly.  We live next to a 400 acre nature reserve but this pair decided that they liked the roof of our building better.  I'm fairly certain they are not paying their condo dues!

Hi Cindy,

I love the osprey's. We have an osprey nest infront of my home and they ususally babies in the spring. We love to watch them.

So, that is what they look like ;)  My husband is a bird nut..he spends so much time, trying to outsmart the squirrels at the bird feeder..it's almost become his job. ;)

Monique-they are great to watch and I've come to listen for their "cry" as they call out to each other.

Those free loaders LOL. That is so cool (the osprey - not the not paying condo dues) :) ~Rita

Rita & Brian-I wonder how much it is going to cost to clean up the mess on the roof when they are done?

Irene-thanks we have been very accomodating.  I'm working on getting photos of the fledging but it means a trip to the roof so am waiting for the building manager to give the okay.

Tom-I guess this Osprey is the sentry keeping watch for anyone, perhaps one of our local eagles, from swooping in on the little one.
