Bag It! A Real Estate Agents Grocery List!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with KGC Properties LLC, Tucson Property Management & Real Estate

Over time showing homes or waiting at home inspections, certain situations arise where I've thought, "Gosh - I wish I had that in my car!"  Since then, I've developed a grocery list just for real estate agents of handy items that I keep in my car and I thought I would share them with you:

Baby wipes and hand wipes:  these items come in handy for many situations where you need to wipe your hands and also for funny situations that may happen if you make a mistake - read Richard Iarossi post!

A pair or two of reader glasses from the dollar store:  Many people don't wear glasses all the time - but that doesn't mean our aging eyes couldn't use a little help from time to time.  If your clients forget their glasses - you'll be ready to help them out!

Hand sanitizer:  Germ-scared, swine-flu, or just plain Mrs. Clean - this always comes in handy.

Small tool kit that includes a flashlight:  Often bank owned homes do not have electricity and windows are boarded up - this will help and you just never know when you might need a tool like, Richard did!

Tide To Go spot remover: because I wear white shirts, drink coffee and eat chocolate!

Lightweight fold up chairs: to sit in the home and write that contract!

Breath mints:  because I drink coffee!

A city map:  navigation is great but a city maps gives clients a better perspective of where the house is in relation to their work place, schools, parks, etc.

Band-Aids

And something fun just for women: Avon Spectra Color Lipstick!

Gabrielle, as a home inspector I always bring several camp chairs, a cooler of bottled water, and some kids toys. Some people don't realize how long an inspection could last and I have found that most do not like to sit on a strangers furniture without their permission and don't want to dirty any glasses.

I do my best to keep water, flavored and lo carb energy bars. Then if clients are thirsty they can have a snack and get that blood sugar back up. I also keep a tape measure.

In my case I ad a compass so that when folks are looking at their view and they say what direction are we pointing in I can tell them

Nothing beats being prepared.  I probably carry to many tools..  I like to fix loose door knobs etc. that only take a minute and can be a distraction to buyers.

I keep key tags, paper clips, a microfiber dust rag (for emergency dusting before a client gets in), and have used other agents scotch tape from their glove box.  A screw driver and extra flyer box screws is also a must.  Oh, and there are always a few bottle of water rollingaround on the floor, gathering up plastic vapor poisons.

Great list Gabrielle. I like to keep a magazine to read if bored, a tape measure, and a camera too. The hand sanitizer is a must! Hope all is well.

Hi Gabrielle ~ I love the idea of folding chairs.  Especially for inspections - I'm always camping out on dirty cellar stairs.
