I was recently searching real estate websites, and so many of them didn't work. So one day when you have an hour consider:
1. Visiting your website. Put yourself in your prospect's mind and does the site immediately tell you what the business is?
2. Does it explain the benefits of working with you, versus other agents?
3. Does it have a personality and a brand? How will you be memorable to your prospect? So do you pay the harp, or are you a scratch golfer? Do you like to sing? Talk aboout your hobbies and the human things about yourself so people will connect with you.
4. Put your "call to action" on the top right side of your website. Ask people for their email addresses, so you can send them something...an information kit on selling their house, or a calculator to see how much they can afford or some small gift to begin "the relationship" with them.
5. Simplicity is key. If there are graphics behind the text...it may be too hard to read. Keep it clean. Remember newspapers always have black type on white paper...maybe you should consider the same. And also narrow columns, because the eye can't read wide margins (like this one).
Well more about websites another day!
