Everywhere we turn, everyone is saying that we need to start using social media tools.  We are being told that we need to start Tweeting and getting Linked In and share bookmarks ... etc.  I understand that social media is all the rage (for goodness sakes, I was watching the UFC fights and Joe Rogan was preaching to Mike Goldberg on why he should start Tweeting). 

I'm more of a "WHY" guy.  When I was little I must have drove everyone around my crazy with all of my "WHY" questions.  I would like to pose a few questions in the hopes to have them answered backed up by some empirical data (stats would be nice). 

  1. What are the best social media tools for selling real estate and why?
  2. What measurable results should I expect to get from the time/effort invested?  Having 1000 fans on Facebook and 5000 followers on Twitter ... besides being popular ... how does that translate to my business?

I think its all about how you handle your social media marketing.

I've recently started using Facebook to promote my team and our website: I have a Team Page that pulls my active rain blogs onto it and where i can post open house events and what not.  I also have started using their advertising system and have an ad campaign that only uses $2 a day and focuses on my different target markets...our team niche markets to US Vetrans, College Students and the LGBT community.  Since I've started, I've seen a small increase in my website veiwers - which has lead to more registrations and help requests.  I'm just starting so I don't have figures to spew out yet - but I'm seeing the difference its making already...
