I've got the "computer problem" blues ... here in Ocean City, New Jersey

It happened sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning ... that's when I found out about two significant problems with my laptop computer and my connection to Yahoo.  It took me three full days to sort out the real issues, find the right people to solve them, and get myself back into the ball game.

The funny thing (but it really isn't that funny) about technology ... you quickly get used to using it, you are now dependent on it, and it always works ... until it lets you down.  That's when your heartaches begin.  My first discovery on Sunday was that my laptop in its protective case tipped over ... a mini fall.  It had happened before.  In fact, I didn't give it much thought.  But when I got to the office on Monday my screen was a blue and black blur with maybe 1/3 of the screen clear.  About an hour later, after I had hooked up a another monitor to my laptop, I discovered I wasn't receiving emails.

Were both problems connected?  I wasn't able to receive or send emails.  I checked with our inhouse agency internet provider because I point my local email to my yahoo connection.  That enables me to have a very specific email address about me and my real estate business ... Dustin@BeachNotes.net ... so I quickly got out some emails telling people to contact me by phone or my agency email.  I then checked with Yahoo three or four times to determine why my emails were not being sent or received.  I received a variety of responses, but nothing was solved.  I finally reached my son (the computer guy who lives in California who was hiking in Oregon).  He gave me some additional advice.  The next day I again contacted Yahoo ... this time reaching someone who could help me.  He indicated that Yahoo was not the problem ... the fact was that my email domain address had expired.  I was able to reach that company and tried to renew the name ... but my son had done it before and I was unable to do it.  I explained that he was hiking in Oregon.  They had pity on me and gave me a 15-day extension.  I AM BACK ON LINE ... when things go wrong, and return to normal ... it is amazing how good you can feel.  IT EVEN IMPROVED MY TENNIS GAME THIS MORNING!!!                                Dap
