Our son, who lives in Florida recently visited us here in Williamsburg with his two sons. The students in Florida finished their school year during the last week in May but the Virginia school term was not over until the middle of June.

We visited Water Country USA and Busch Gardens and had almost no waiting in line either day; in fact we were able to walk on to many of the rides with no waiting at all.  The fact that the Virginia schools were still in session and that the weather was cloudy kept the parks from being crowded.

Many people avoid theme parks when the weather conditions are not optimal, but it is really more enjoyble to be in the parks when the weather is overcast and the temperature is moderate than when the sun is blazing.  You can feel chilled at Water Country when you are soaking wet and the temperature is below eighty.  Just try to keep moving and wrap up in beach towels between rides.  Often the clouds will break and the day can become quite pleasant.
