The festivities are planned this year for June 25, 26, 27 and 29 at Valley Regional Park, 5100 South and 2700 West.

Taylorsville Dayzz 2009 it will kick off a night earlier this year, on Thursday, June 25.. Family night will start with the carnival at 4 p.m. with special rates for that day only of 50 cents per ride. A new carnival company was chosen this year and is geared toward all ages, not just smaller children.



The smaller, east stage will also open Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m. until approximately 11 p.m. with several performers, including the singing and dancing group Voice of Polynesia, a clogging group and a Hispanic choir group.

The carnival will continue operation Friday starting at 4 p.m. and again Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. and running throughout the day and evening.

The Taylorsville Symphony will perform on Friday, June 26 at 7 p.m., followed by Jason Hewlett at 8 p.m. Hewlett is a comedic musical impersonator that regularly performs in Las Vegas at such venues as The Venetian, Mandalay Bay and The Rio. His two hour show will cover impersonations of Jim Carey, Elton John, Nat King Cole and the Chipmunks to name just a few. A fireworks display will conclude the Friday night festivities.

Other activities throughout the weekend are:

The "Barnyard Buddies" petting zoo will return to Taylorsville Dayzz starting Friday night, continuing all day Saturday through the evening.

The Bennion Lions Club:  Saturday 7 a.m. a breakfast in the parking lot of the Harmon's grocery store at 5454 South Redwood Rd. ($4 for adults and $3 for children.)

Family Fun Run beginning at Taylorsville City Hall at 8:20 a.m. Early registration can be submitted on line through the city's website (www.taylorsvilleut.gov) for a discounted price of $10 prior to the event and runners will receive a race shirt.

The  parade sponsored by the Taylorsville Exchange Club will begin at 9 a.m. starting at 5400 South Redwood Rd. The route will continue west on 5400 to 2700 West and end at Valley Regional Park where the remainder of the festivities will be throughout the day. Both stages will be open and live entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the day into the evening.

 Car Show, is expected to be much bigger than prior years. In addition to the vintage and classic cars there will be a new category of motorcycles.

Headline Entertainment 8 p.m. of Jay White, a Neil Diamond tribute artist who has performed at Taylorsville Dayzz for the past two years. White will be accompanied by King Erisson, Diamond's percussionist, and the West Valley Symphony. There is a special surprise during the intermission of White's performance, but residents will need to be present to discover it.

White's performance will finish with a 30 minute fireworks display set to music.



"This is the biggest firework display in the Salt Lake Valley and the biggest free show in Utah," said Dunnigan.

 Monday, June 29. Food and exhibit booths will re-open at 6:30 p.m. and the Utah Symphony will perform a free concert at 8 p.m. with a patriotic flair. The symphony will feature the Wasatch Cannoneers, concluding with the 1812 Overture and 18 different sized cannons will be fired.
