The Importance of Punctuality

Have you ever been late for an appointment?  I'm sure this has happened to all of us from time to time.  However, as professionals our punctuality can be perceived as a reflection on our professionalism.  If you are going to be later than the appointed time at least call and let them know that you are running late, apologize profusely and ask if it is still convenient or would they like to reschedule the appointment for a better time.  But, not to call at all and just show up is extremely unprofessional and sometimes even an imposition on your client/customers time.

As professionals we need to remember that everyone's time is valuable and to make sure that when we are scheduling appointments to be sure to leave enough time in between appointments for run overs and contingencies like traffic.  If real estate agents are to improve the general public's impression of us as a profession we need to be more mindful of other people's time.

Implement the 5 P plan, which simply means Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.  We are judged not only by our knowledge, our appearance, our planning but also by our punctuality.

Anyway, I'm the guy  that is sitting there 15 minutes early for the meeting, or driving twice around the neighborhood because I'm WAY TOO EARLY.

June, good post. Whether or not you were there on time is the first impression that the client will have.

Many years ago, I was taught by one of my first mentors that tardiness was the height of arrogance.  Yours is a timely post espousing a timeless message.  Thank you.
