San Diego Real Estate - While visiting back East for the past 10 days, I took in some of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. This water fall at the Bushkill Falls high up in the Pocono Mountains in PA required quite a steep hike down winding trails but as you see well worth the adventure.

The color of the water here is that of root beer and it gets its color from the tanic acid in the soil from the abundance of Hemlock trees. These Main falls are often referred to as the  Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania. This is the larger of a total of 8 falls to be discovered in this extraordinary scenic mountain retreat.

Hi Matt, From the vantage point I took this without a telephoto lens, I had feared that trying to shield the lens from the water spray may ruin the photo. Thankfully it didn't.

I always enjoy photographs of waterfalls around the world.  Your picture looks like a very very mini-version of the American Falls at Niagara Falls.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jon, Thanks you so much and I am delighted to be back at posting again. The real thing here is so big and so intense, it is really hard to capture with a simple lens and point and click camera. You are so right. I didn't take my new SLR camera and can only guess how much better the photos might have come out.

Hi Robert , you are so right. It just seemed that the East right now is so lush and green and I spend a lot of time talking writing here on AR about the water the water shortage and the browning out here in San Diego.

Thanks Debe, I was wishing while I was visiting these great places, I had carried my new SLR camera but choose instead to take the little point and shoot since it fit in my pocket. Once I got there I sure regretted not trying to get these special photos really refined.

Hi Marc, having been to Niagara Falls, I thought the Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania was a bit over the top. But it is spectacular in its own way. And with the huge long trails and the other 7 falls, this is a destination. I am impressed with waterfalls and have seen way to few of them. Maybe I put that on my bucket list and start working on checking them off the list with each passing year.

Woo Hoo, I am adding in another photo that really gives some perspective on this amazing place. Thanks for the great comment and where you come from Water Falls are plentiful and with all the amazing foliage, they are quite spectacular. These may not compare but they were certainly beautiful ( different) but beautiful and delighted that you enjoyed seeing this post. When I selected the photo , I thought of you and all the great falls in Hawaii. I saw one and know there were more. Anyway here is another view of the rapids created by the falls. Now if we could get a raft, we could ride the rapids after getting wet from the falls, "-). They get quite intense. I got further down these trails and was surprised to see that NOT anyone seems to get to ride these waters.

William--This looks like a beautiful area...we are too flat to have many waterfalls in Minnesota. Minnehaha Falls and Taylors Falls are about the only ones. Nice photos...thanks for sharing.

Hi Teri, It is so totally gorgeous there and so vast a wilderness in the Pocono Mountains. I can actually imagine myself living there. Not sure how I would handle all the cold weather though,as we are so temperate here in San Diego and my blood thinned out too much. Besides I am a real sun person and I didn't see it while back east. No complaints though, it made navigating around so enjoyable because it wasn't hot. But it will get hot and very humid and then I would be running back to San Diego, :-)

Hi Judy, What Localism on AR has done is acquaint many of us with areas of the country that we had no idea of its treasures. I am guess here but I am thinking out loud that ActiveRain members that get around to see and read at least some of what is available here is so immersed in information and not just about their niche in real estate. We get a broad education about so much of what most in the profession or any profession just have no idea about. Thanks for reminding of all this in your comment. And know that I really appreciate you sharing that here in this post. Judy , I hope you come over again and again.

Hi William ... I really haven't forgotten you although it has been several post since I have left a comment.  My manager had breast cancer surgery and things have been just a wee bit overwhelming.  Things are looking pretty positive for her.  Your beautiful photo reminded me to sit back, breathe and enjoy nature.

Hi Joan, You are so dear Joan and I am glad your manager is doing well. The mnager at my office and I have been friends about a quarter of a century, ( don't you love that? In  3 more years that wil be how long I have been in the business). She had a double masectomy and she is a survivor. Between prostate cancer and breast cancer, it seems like everyone has been getting it, like the flu. It is one of real trageties and yet we see such heroism of these survivors and what they go through. It would seem if one can overcome this horrible disease they could probably overcome just anything but the fear of it returning never goes away. Thank you for your wonderful note Joan, it is so appreciated and I fell very honored. I haven't written much of late. I haven't even been on line much reading and leaving comments. I was away for a while and even before that I was beginning to wane a bit when it comes to writing and just keeping up. I should do better. God knows, I always have a lot to say, :-)

Hi Debe, But I was still imagining what these photos would like using various lenses and shutter speeds to capture the moment. But I opted for convenience instead , :-)But I am gald I at least had the trusty little one. How would I have conveyed these. Wait until you see the other things, like the Longwood Gardens Conservatory. It was 2 shades of awesome.

Woo Hoo Sally said I should have brought it back. I can only imagine having this somewhere in my back yard, even a little one that looked like it would be so hot. And I could sell the water and make all our water issues go away. Besides becoming very wealthy.

Hi Marchel, Thank you so much. The North east is so lush you will swear that God invented a new GREEN. I grew up back there and never remember the green being so intense. I am sure you will love it and don't be disappointed that photos come out looking almost a blue green. Yep, It is that green there.

Hi Konnie, You are so right. There is though settings and filter required to give the water a warm soft glow that you do not see here. In the future, I will have the right lens, filter and know better how to achieve that softening glow. Watch me grow, I am  loving photography.

Hi Richard, A major big wonderful surprise awaits you when you finally get there. Awesome place and here is a tip. Wear boat shoes if you have them. Bring you own food and water ( especially if you want to make a day of it, have a good energy level to start out, plan on spending at least 2 to 3 hours on the trails if not more. The farther away falls are also spectacular. There are 3 or 4 different level trails. If you are healthy, don't be intimidated by one of the more difficult ones. They are not that hard but they have to look out for people so know your own body and what feels comfortable for you.  Bring you camera.
