If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment. This past week was travel week, sometimes to cities more than 45 miles away, sometimes to the boondocks, which, by my definition, is where there are no movie theaters, no restaurants, and no shopping malls.

Just birds and cows; a few birds and cows; some birds and cows; and, if you look closely, you might see a few birds and cows.

I guess you know that I saw a few birds and cows.

Turkey vultures, San Diego County     Cows, San Diego County

You can see some things that you just don't see in the cities any more:

Windmill, San Diego County     Old covered wagon, San Diego County

And when you're this close to the border with Mexico, well....

We love our Border Patrol

Along with the ubiquitous automobile, there are a few modern amenities that have infiltrated the boondocks, but I'm not sure why any one house would need one of these:

Heliport, San Diego County boondocks

It belonged to the house "next door" -- left driveway in the picture below. You can see the heliport sign on the fence up ahead. I went right to the house I was inspecting, which is a good thing, too, because I don't inspect heliports.

Hi Russel

It might be a new niche market?

Good luck and success.

Russ, come on, 45 miles is the boondocks?  Looks like great country to me!  Some people need a heliport so they can make it to their call center in a timely manner.  What kind of birds are those anyway?  Almost look like turkeys.

Vultures and everything!  Must be a pretty high end home if there is a place to land a helicopter!

It's amazing the things you run into on the road less traveled!  I have to admit that I have never come across a heliport though...

I don't know Russell----border, heliport, agents disguised as cows, birds to sound an alarm---you be careful out there!! Sounds like a movie to me! Have fun, love ya, Trev

Cows and birds...and beautiful, open land. The one thing we are missing in most of Southern California. It must be nice to get out of the crowded city once in awhile.

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

Best regards.

So I guess you enjoyed your boondocks outing? LOL  I gues they wanted to put some distance between themselves and civilization, but still have easy access to necessities. So did they have a buyer? Were you inspecting for buyers or the sellers?

Hey, Lou - And you know how I like niche markets! LOL

Hey, Wanda - It depends in which direction I go. 45 miles west puts me 30 miles into the Pacific Ocean. 45 miles east puts me out in the boondocks. 45 miles south puts me 30 miles into Mexico. 45 miles north puts me at Steve Hall's office.

Hey, Robert - High end home with lots of land. It's the land part that I like. I could camp out for the rest of my life if I had about 25 acres here.

Hey, Janna - I've seen heliports, but they've either been on top of commercial buildings or tourist rides.

Hey, Treva - I think Stephen King is working on the book first. Then comes the movie.

Hey, Michael - One of the reasons why I live out in East County. Not as much hustle and bustle out here. A lot more homophobia, though. But as with everything in life, there are tradeoffs.

Hey, Vegas Bob - When are you going to get the ActiveRain gods to allow you to give out points? LOL

Hey, Terry - I used to go to your stomping grounds to get out of Houston. Particularly the Rose Festival. I suspect they still have it, of course.

Hey, Lisa - I was inspecting for the buyers. The place also had a tennis court, but, interestingly, no swimming pool.
