Efficient Comment on 6262009

When it comes to comments on my ActiveRain blog size does not matter but sincerity does... to me.

"Thanks for sharing your article with us this morning. I wish you continued success"

Efficient comments are the same or virtually the same  comments posted (cut and pasted)  to approximately 10 posts a day....

Size does not matter...sincerity does.

Let's just call him Mr. Greenhouse.

The post the comment is on is Localism.  It's about Central Ohio, where I work.  The information in my post  is not of value outside Central Ohio... unless you are moving to Central Ohio Mr. Greenhouse.  As a home inspector  blogging on ActiveRain from the Southwest part of the US I seriously doubt you are moving to Columbus Ohio and have any interest in what is open this Sunday.

I usually wait a day to delete "efficient comments"....

Most members who do this hide their comments.  Mr. Greenhouse' comments are not, yet hidden.  He leaves at least 10 comments a day.  10 virtually identical generic comments.

Maureen - I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment.  I don't mind short comments at all, as long as I can tell that they actually read the post!

The point hounds leave their scent on a fast ten posts, head home and call it a day.  I guess they cause very little harm, but they also contribute very little and learn less.

Thanks for the comments.

Jason I often  suspect if I see a "quick" comment on a local post...  usually when it is so generic they have their comments hidden.

Norma I like "point hounds" it is a kinder gentler term....

There is a lot more to the story... he actually often does more than the 10 required comments (for the daily points), there is another ID that leaves a different  efficient comment on most of the same posts that he does AND there is a strong strong link to a face that has been on the dashboard often...

Reminds me of the summer of 2006 on ActiveRain....  I am not sure efficient commenting had been discovered yet then but sock puppeting, meat puppet,  astroturfing  were being done  (even if we did not have a clue what those were or why someone would do it.)

They ought to hide their comments... really.

Laughing...sorry I could not resist providing a short and canned comment.  You have a very valid point.  I have had several comments that had nothing to do with my actual post- a strong indicator that they did not read it.  However, I usually gear my blogs towards consumers- who rarely comment (at least on my blogs).

I do however delete the comments in which a random person is confessing their undying love for me and wants me to meet them at their private webcam site.

Really?

I get emails never a comment... those would be scary links.

You got me.

I almost deleted it....

Lucklily then I  wondered if your comment was satire...  boy I would look dumb.

I did a little experiment a week or so ago and used a generic comment left on my blog and left it on the 8 most recent commenters who had left spam, generic cut and paste comment, or word soup.  A couple of them commented back to my borrowed generic  comment.
