AspirinA Century 21 agent many years ago at one of those Career day events / Local office meetings imparted this advice to me

Take One Of These And See Me In The Morning.

I said what? She said Realtors are like these Big Ol Aspirin to their clients. They are invaluable. They basically keep addressing all the pain that can crop up during a buying or selling transaction. They relieve tension and can cool hot heads. They are comforting.

Think about it as it is so true. Huge Aspirin workers who serve you. They handle negotiations, set the stage for getting your property sold with the least hassle, have knowledge of the current contracts and paperwork to use, know many inspector, appraiser, Stager, loan, and handymen resources. With the For Sale By Owners being successful selling on their own approximately 13% of the time, eventually they find the BIG ASPIRIN that is a competent professional Realtor to assist with the pain.

Hippo Chocolate

Now maybe with chocolate as something that raises the endorphins and makes us feel good better than aspirin I will twist the story from the original that the lady told me about and say we Realtors are more like chocolate.

Chocolate is for lovers and if we are watching out for the best interest of our clients we are truly loving them.

Aspirin for alleviating the pain of the headache of a deal and chocolate for making everyone feel all warm inside when they have a successful sale or move into their dream home.

That's the ticket!!

Gary,

Maybe we should just dole out the chocolate before the aspirin and then they would still love us during the transaction?  Chocolate sounds good no matter what!

I want a piece or two of that chocolate for my transaction aches and pains.  Taking good care of our clients requires a bit more effort these days.  Perhaps with early intervention they will need fewer aspirins...

Hi Gary,,,how creative can you get ( can't get the smile off my face for the cleverness of this post )

I have a soft spot in my heart  for the wisdom of a C21 trainer. I am of  C21 stock.  That is the first company I started with.  I only changed because the Broker closed our

smaller office and I, at the time could not afford to waste the  travel time to travel an hour away each day to a home office.   We are the aspirin to our clients but I agree with Sally ....a good idea to mix the chocate. easy task for me.a chocalate lover   another good one with so much truth

Gary, I like the chocolate analogy much better, after all this business is about the relationship and having happy clients in the end!

Gary--I'm with Rob.  I like the chocolate much better--and some say the dark chocolate variety is even good for you.  We are good for our clients--and they don't gain any weight having us around! ;- )

Shelia: Spread those feel good feelings.

Norma: I like the early intervention thought.

June: The Century 21 folks have some great training.

Hi Li: Although I probably wouldn't mix the two.

Robert: Make them happy, that is what counts.

Tamara: Chocolate is good, no doubt about it.

Hi Sharon: You have a great day too.

As a controlled Chocoholic (who wants to be cured?) I found this post immediately upon signing on.  Chocolate, being one of the 4 basic food groups, is the answer.  Who cares what the question is?  Ply your clients with enought good chocolate (no Tootsie Rolls trying to pass themselves off as chocolate, please!) and those endorphins will have them happy campers in no time.  Keep a supply of M&M's, also known as Happy Pills, handy in case of emergency for yourself or your clients-it's a win-win solution.

Great post as usual Gary-thanks!

Gary, I love the analogy.  I will be using this line on my clients..... Take care.

It's so true. I just told a client yesterday that I am saving them a lot of headaches with the little things I must deal with. Great metaphor.

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

Best regards.

I'll make mine asprin and coconut cake.  Chocolate just doesn't "love" me.  But I love the analogy as always Gary.

Gary, I absolutely LOVED this post!  I strive to be a giant aspirin but I love your line "and if we are watching out for the best interest of our clients, we are truly loving them."  They know whether we care...they can feel it.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone were a bit of both?  Great, great post!

Gary, reminds me of someone at one our conventions had a prescription bottle (filled with candy of course) with their buyers name on it.  Read - take two in the morning.  It was for buyers remorse.  HA!
