Ummm Don....and what else could you possibly refer to when looking at a 3 foot rack. You've got me thinking though...stack, sack, pack, back, I give up :-)

Bill....I must be slow this morning....what are scrapped antlers?  Your talking to someone who only shoots with a camera...LOL

Morning Toula....Those are some big antlers, aren't they.  Because of the time of year you can see the molt, but he's still a beautiful animal.

WOW and that one is still in the "velvet" stage, can you imagine what that rack looked like when mature! Hope you are doing well, every time I see one of your nature pictures, I hear the National Geographic music in the back of my mind!

Gail,

Don beat me to the best line for this pic. What a fantastic picture. The background color just enhances the shot.

Gorgeous velvet antlers Gail, I love the way the sun is shining through them!  I always think the deer, elk and now I see, the Caribou too, look so scruffy in the Spring, when they lose their winter coat.

Morning Gail - What a magnificent creature! He's huge! I always wonder how an animal like this, or an elk, or big deer, can hold up their heads with all that weight....

Gail - When you look at the antlers on that critter, they appear as arms with fingers poised in a graceful dance.  I'm certain that animal was a ballerina in a previous life:-)

Hi Gail!  I just LOVE this photo--I can't believe that you were able to capture that shot--I'm telling you--you have a second career.  You should sell this to National Geographic or a sporting magazine; simply amazing!

All kidding aside though, that's one great shot.

So Gail, I'm thinking you didn't take this one at your local wetlands... But it's yet another beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks everyone for the great comments :-)  Taken in Alberta Canada June 1997 and scanned from a print with some enhancement in PhotoShop.  Glad you all like this magnificent endangered creature.

Mary...yes he is in the molt stage, but still I find him beautiful.

Hi Debi...they do look rather heavy.  Wouldn't it be fun to find them out hiking, those I would keep :-)

Myrl....you are so poetic, they absolutely look like graceful fingers engaged in a mythical dance

John...it was either Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper...I can't exactly pinpoint it, but I'm thinking Jasper.  Would love to go back.

Debe....It would be wonderful to get paid for this, but alas competition is as stiff there as in our business.  Nonetheless, you saying so is always worth a big smile :-)  Thanks so much!

LOL @Lou....I wonder how much an 800mm would cost.  I do tend to get as close as I can without spooking the animal.  If I don't feel fear or intimidation, it seems the animal doesn't either.  I don't take stupid chances...but might push the envelope a little more than most :-)

Thanks Craig....coat rack LOL

Thanks Laurie...not to bad for a scanned print is it :-)

You've always got some great shots! Simply amazing!

We just drove back from Miami, and detoured into Vero Beach where I had never been before. Spent an hour at the beach chilling before we continued back to 95 and onto Atlanta. We left from the Disney Resort (forgot it was there! Did not have time to check it out) and came back on Hwy 510 to I-95. I took the most amazing photo I've ever taken..and wanted to share it with you.....
