Downtown Denver has big plans to develop its newly designated Theater District as an entertainment destination for visitors and locals along the lines of New York's Times Square. What is already an entertainment venue for theater, ballet, the Colorado Symphony, the Denver Convention Center and plenty of restaurants will become a place for street theater, moveable public art projects, music and lit screens on the sides of buildings along 14th Street from Lawrence to Colfax.

The first event is Fridays in the Park featuring bands at the Sculpture Park behind the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.  Fridays in the Park starts June 15th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will run through August 17th.

The 14thStreet Initiative which plans to widen sidewalks and develop a lively streetscape inspired the theater district idea.
