Mr. and Mrs. First Time Home Buyer, the subject of this post is Pre-1980 Strures

A Regular Certified Home Inspector in the State of New Hampshire cannot Test for Lead-Based Paint.

Only Certified Lead-Based Paint Contractors can do so!!

(No Ifs or Buts About It, Its the Law!)

Structures built prior to 1980 may contain lead-based paint and or asbestos in various building materials such as insulation, siding, and/or floor and ceiling tiles. Both lead and asbestos are known health hazards under certain circumstances. Definitively evaluating for the presence of lead and/or asbestos requires licensed specialists and is not included in my inspections.

For information on lead, asbestos and other hazardous materials in homes, visit these site's:

US EPA LEAD http://www.epa.gov/lead/

US EPA ASBESTOS http://www.epa.gov/asbestos/index.html

Center for Disease Contril Lead http://www.cdc.gov/lead/

Center for Disease Control Asbestos http://www.cdc.gov/health/asbestos.htm

Howdy there Carl and Ceil

It sure is a pleasure to see Y'all have stoped by to visit, and to have Y'all leave one of your fine comments. To read and write a reply back to, on one of the posts. Here at my little ole Blogging Homestead, my friends

Thank you very kindly! Y'all are going to make me be all red in the face. As professionals, it sure is part of our job. To help folks understand, just what we are able to do and the areas that we right not able to help them with our selves. But at less be willing and able to, help them with where to get the help they need.

Carl- I know you do the samething for your clients down in the Grand State of Texas, my friend.

Folks if you are thinking of moven to the Hill Country of the Grand State of Texas, you be sure to only use my very good friend Carl Winters for your Home Inspection. You sure will not find anyone else that knows the ins and outs, or the workings of a home better than Carl. And does he know Texas, you can bit your boots, and still be able to wear them home!

Dale,

There is no doubt about it that when we get into older houses we have to start thinking about lots of extra things -- lead, asbestos, old wiring, etc.
