WOW... it's a Hot One, showing in the mid day sun

By
Real Estate Agent with Sky Realty South Austin

OK, this is Texas, it is a place known of the hot summers and this year the summer sun is out in full force, at 8:00am yesterday it was over 80 degrees, I had appointments to show homes at 11:00 am til 2:00... if you have lived around these parts you know we are walking down the streets and around the backyards in 95-100 degree heat.

This year we have had the typical August dog days of summer hit us in June, 12 days of over 100 degree heat, many record breaking for that day, 103, 104 degrees.  No matter where you live, when the thermometer says 103 that my friend is hot, I don't care if it is a dry heat, or a steamy heat, that's HOT!

I found this really cute cute cooler for my back seat that will hold 12 small water bottles, it's compact, made of cordura cloth and features a big Star on a blue and red background.  Not only is it very lightweight and insulated to keep cold drinks cold, it folds up when not in use and stores easily.

When I go out with clients I have found that taking a small cooler of water helps us all, we need to keep hydrated and I can buy a 12 pack of small bottles of water at the cost of 3 large bottles at a drive thru.  Water is better than sodas because it does a super job of keeping one hydrated... plus you don't have to guess at who drinks carbonated soda, who drinks only natural juice or who prefers sweet tea as to unsweet tea, now in Texas that is an important thing, sweet tea or non sweetened tea.

How do you deal with the summer heat and showing clients in your area, I am always open for suggestions and maybe you have a good trick or two I can use.

I was in Dallas in July one year, playing golf at the Colonial and got blistered thru my shirt. Yes it is hot and this is coming from a Florida Guy! We carry a cooler and have seen on line where you can get water bottle labels with your info on them. Guess I had better research that.

Have a Great Day!

Gail, it is hotter in the College Station area! Does it feel hotter than your area? As you stated; probably not.

I beat the heat by turning on my air-conditioned seats in My Chevrolet Traverse! Best money I ever spent!

I remember the days.  People in Northwest Indiana complain about the heat often but they have no idea what real heat and humidity day after day after day is like.  Keep drinking that water.

No matter where we are, it's water water all the way, and those small size bottles, in the car, are essentials.

Harry, I know you have the same summer sun beating on you in Phoenix, wow that gets hot too!

Dick and Dixie,  I can relate, sunburn through thin cloth.  Umbrellas outside are necessities sometimes. :)

Robert, air conditioned seats sound like a dream come true.  I'm in a state on envy now.

Irene, you sound  like a former Texan, day after day for sure!

Sea to Sky. water as you say is an essential... I could not imagine a tour without cold water.  I offer if whenever I do an open house too.

Betina, one can almost not have enough coolers here.  I just love my new little bag though, so easy to store.

That is such a good idea.  I showed property a few days ago and not only got overly thirsty but hungry too. So you might throw in some power bars.

Barbara, thanks for the idea about the power bars, this cooler does have a front pocket they would fit nicely in.  (and Costco sells some good ones)

Gail,

Showing buyers around is tough enough then you add the 100 plus temperatures and make showing very difficult.  I like you water cooler device.
