Happy 4th of July!

Every 4th of July, the award winning town of Cary, North Carolina hosts their annual Independance Day Olde Time Celebration.

This year will be no exception as many events are planned to make this year's celebration even better!

The day's events, which will be held at the Fred G. Bond Metro Park, start off with a parent/ child fishing tournament and include the, always fun, "Parade in the Park", a hula hoop contest, a watermelon seed spitting contest and music will be performed by the Cary Town Band. Other contests and events continue at the park throughout the day.

For those who enjoy bicycling, the 15th annual Spin Cycle 4th of July Firecracker 100k and 50K Cycling Ride to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society will run throughout the day as well.

View the full schedule of the day's events.

And don't forget to head on over to the Koka Booth Amphitheatre as the sun begins to go set and watch the fireworks show. Gates open at 3 and there is a full schedule of events planned. Lawn seating is FREE!

The weather is predicted to be hot, but no rain is forecast! So stop on by to help celebrate America's birthday. Once you're here, you'll discover why I've been proud to call this little patch of America, home!

Kokabooth is an amazing outdoor theater area and should be a lot of fun.  Depending on the kids mood we may go enjoy the celebration from there.  Actually no matter where you go I think this is a great place to live and enjoy festivities.

Wanda - It is definitely a good old fashioned fun time for sure! Have yourself a great 4th too!

Lou - Enjoy the day my friend!

Betina - No open houses on the 4th! I believe that's in the Realtor's code of ethics!

Jim and Maria - Personally, my favorite holiday is Festivus, with the 4th of July a close second!

Nevin - I couldn't agree more with ALL of your comments here today! Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Wake County in general is a wonderful place to call home.

Hello Mr. Craig....If you're fireworks look anything like this picture, they will be awesome.  I always have mixed feelings over fireworks.  I won't say why, as I wouldn't want to spoil anyone's fun.  Anyway, I do love the lit up skies, especially the finales.  Hope your 4th is spectacular :-)

Craig, It sounds like another great line up of events....I wonder if we have anything going on (which I should know!).  I used to go to Jones Beach every single year and now it's so crowded you can't find a spot on the sand to sit :(

Craig, LOL, great shot of you... :D Your events sound like great fun! I am planning to walk up to the top of the hill, we will brush hog it, sit and watch the fireworks in the next town over. They are very close by. If I just turn and look to the south I will see fireworks of many other towns for miles and miles, they will be about half an inch tall and all over the horizon. :D

I may even get to take the day off!

Carole - I used to sit at the water's edge in Northport and watch the fireworks in Connecticut. I've also been to Jones Beach for the fireworks, but like you, I got tired of the crowds....Yet another reason I'm here!!!

Andrea - Isn't Photoshop fun?!!! "Brush hog"? Now there's a term I'm unfamiliar with. I guess I just have to get out more! Enjoy your top of the hill 4th!

Hi Craig. Hope to see the pics of you competing in the hula hoop contest...hee! And FYI....brushhog is an attachment to a tractor that helps clear heavy brush...obviously a city boy from New York because all us country folk know exactly what the word means...

Craig,  Sounds like a spectacular celebration!  I'll be standing at my favorite vantage point on the island and watching the shows all around me.  I can see the fireworks in Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Pine Knoll Shores and Morehead City all at once.  It's pretty special.  You should come down some year and see how island folk celebrate Independence!
