Golf....the other four letter word!

As some of you know, I played golf for many years and am just now getting back to playing.

Well I played in a tournament on Friday as a guest of Boren & Scott title company in Tyler, Texas.

Now I need a 12 step program for this $%^&* addiction. We won! We actually played OK, with nothing special happening until the very last hole. The I mainlined the game throughout every vein in my body.

It was a simple little par 5, about 520 yards or so. I drove it up the left side of the fairway and we played my drive. OK good so far, right? Everyone hit and did a great job, we were in a very good position to make a birdie. The yardage was 227 uphill over a bunker so I decided to hit a smooth 3 wood for the back of the green and we might make a long eagle putt. Good plan I thought. Well I hit it and it started at the hole and you guessed it, in the hole it went for an Albatross(2).

Now I am hooked again by this drug called golf!!

Terry - I would enjoy golf a lot better if I could just hit the ball straight once in 18 holes.  I have a terrible slice that always ends up on a different fairway.  I have had many people try to help me with this, but nothing has helped yet.

I don't really understand why you are so proud of hitting an albatross with your little golf ball. Personally, I think it's cruel, although I do wish I had been there with my handy dandy Canon Rebel to record the time of impact, or at least the results.

I used to caddy for many of my friends back in Texas. When I came to San Diego, all my friends wanted to come and play Torrey Pines. Finally I got three of them out here together and we set off for Torrey Pines. I even played! My first time! Par was 72 on the North Course. They chose it over the South Course because Blacks Beach (our clothing optional beach) was directly below. I forget what they shot, but I shot a 154. They made fun of me, but as I pointed out to them, for the $20 greens fee, they each shot one round of golf while I shot two rounds. That shut them up.

By the way, FREE, LOVE, and HELP are also four-letter words. They were the favorites of my wise old grandmother.

I use to get frustrated with this game because I could only ever get about 100 or so yards.  Good news it is always straight and golf is healthier than other drugs.  The bad news, is golf is just about as expensive as any other drug of choice.  :)  I need to get out some more as soon as this heat settles down.
