I HAVE A GREAT STOCK TIP!
I read the other day that Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison for the financial scandal that unfolded during the economic down time. His financial empire was exposed to the world. Movies stars and other well known people just gave him millions of dollars at a time. Non-profit and school funds gave him millions to invest in exchange for a higher return. Wow, that just amazes me. His prison sentence was referred to only given to terrorists, traitors and evil doers. The Federal Government wanted to set the example for others down the road.
The massive Ponzi scheme run by Madoff since at least the early 1990s demolished the life savings of thousands of people, wrecked charities and shook confidence in the U.S. financial system.
He also showed no emotion though he looked down earlier in the hearing as he listened to nine victims spend nearly an hour venting their despair and anger. Some openly wept or raised their voices, labeling Madoff a "monster," "a true beast" and an "evil low-life."
"He stole from the rich. He stole from the poor. He stole from the in between. He had no values," said Tom Fitzmaurice. "He cheated his victims out of their money so he and his wife Ruth could live a life of luxury beyond belief."
The investigation has found that in reality, Madoff never made any investments, instead using the money from new investors to pay returns to existing clients - and to finance a lavish lifestyle for his family. The actual loss so far has been put at $13.2 billion. But the judge said that was a conservative estimate and noted that even Madoff told his sons in December it was a $50 billion fraud. citedhttp://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,529412,00.html
CONCLUSION:
GREED IS GOOD!
I was totall shocked when I first heard of this story. How could anyone create such a large Ponzi scheme with all the Federal regulation in place? There will always be people that take advantage of the system. I am sure many of us seen the movie in that famous quote "Greed is Good." That movie showed the real Wall Street in my opinion. Keep better control of your own money besides relying on another person. Also, do we have our client's best interest in mind besides our own? Madoff is a great example when people think they are above the law. Stay on the yellow brick road to get to your destination.
