SPAM Points - the easiest points on ActiveRain

By

Ugg SPAM

Report Spam when you see it on your blog, another members blog, an abandoned blog.  Don't worry about whether they could or will report the spam themselves....

Just do it.

It is so easy to do.

*** You get points... there is a bounty on SPAM***

Click "Report a Concern" at the bottom right on the comment.  It is just left of the time the comment is left if you hover there it will appear.  ActiveRain does the rest. Sometimes but not always  a pop up opens up so it takes a second click.

Report Spam Pop Up

"Are you sure you want to report this comment?"

You betcha.

The pop up  tells you "Innapropriate content includes spam, third-party advertisements in comments, hate speech and slander."

Click OK if it is "Innapropriate content."   Two clicks for 10 points? What could be easier?

Way easier than thinking up a comment and typing it in for 25 points.... or even cutting and pasting in a comment for 25 Points.

Way easier than writing original content for your blog for 225 Points.

I think I have over 300 points here for reporting over 30 SPAM comments.

Reported Spam comment

We don't get a lot of SPAM on ActiveRain but it is getting worse ActiveRain Easter Egg Hunt

Use this tool to get SPAM removed and get some points.

It is also therapeutic....

7-17-2009 EDIT  On your blog do not delete, report!!!

Jeremy Re-Blogged Bob's post Would you like a side of spam with that...

ActiveRain says don't just delete

Bob says it in the comments on his blog..."DON'T JUST DELETE"

Good blog and comments.  I read your Easter Egg (timely) blog from April as well.  A/R has thought of everything haven't they?  I should report the spam, then delete -- darn, I think I dropped the egg on a few spam comments.  Good point about spam being put on older posts.  So, for those who don't follow the log provided by A/R, hint: keep track of new comments posted on your blog.  Maybe some of those dormant, and/or not in use blogs need to be inactivated?  I'm sure their bones are going to be picked over and then spammed.

Thanks all for the comments.  Keep an eye on your blog of course but also report a concern on other spam you see  on other's  blogs.   There is not that much spam on ActiveRain.  The points have been around for a month or so... maybe longer... maybe shortly after Easter.

If you see   "Inappropriate content ....spam, third-party advertisements in comments, hate speech and slander" report it ...  Kat's SPAM

It went on and on...  I want to say more than 30 comments full of links.... pharmacy stuff on a local post.

Carla unlink all the links in number 47 or use a screen shot, or snipping tool to show spam.  I clicked on the first link and it is just shopping but you never know with spam... no idea why I even clicked on that one...

did you see the comment between Carla's 2? from huaqqinm?  That was the spam you are starting to see on AR.

Click this first link here and "Report Spam" on an older post written by Sara Bonert, for an easy 10 points until Sara deletes the comment or AR does.

EDIT There are at least 5 posts on the dashboard this AM with a spam from huaqqinm or sometimes it is spelled a little different. Sara's, Larry Bettag's post, the post about Twitter.

I was hit by the evil drug company spam and reported then deleted all of them. The next day, there they were again! So I did the same thing again - and disabled the comments. Guess what? They came back! How can they spam me in the comments, when I've disabled the comments? Anyone know?

Toni  & TLW  keep up the good work... there's a bounty on that SPAM.

Kelly Wow I don't understand how they can spam you if comments are disabled...  there must have been an ActiveRain glitch.

Anyone?

That could be a problem....

They do come back over and over to the same post so turning off comments is the only thing to do... I usually don't until the 3rd spam comment.

For those who have never seen spam or much spam on ActiveRain,  Dan Marquardt left this comment on the Easter Egg post:

"Just did a quick search & wow, there's a lot out there!!

I found one blog post (Good informational post) with 91 spam comments on it! I wonder if I'll get credit for all 91?"

Dan should get about 910 points for his 182 clicks...  and maybe carpel tunnel?

They have to be on here, the abandoned blogs with a post covered with spam.  I don't understand why it works that way but that is how spam works.  I thought Kat's with 30 was wild

Maureen, I've tried  and tried. I even wrote a post today about some guy who keeps posting "comments" on my posts taht are just links to his site. I've hovered and hovered and NOTHING appears to let me report as spam. (The only thing that happens is I get a funny little icon on the bottom left of the browser that says "Error on page.")

Why does this not work for me-- it's driving me crazay that this guy is getting away with blatant self-promotion on MY blog, and I can't do anything about it!

I don't care about the points, I just want to get rid of this spam!

It must be something with the browser you are using Laura.  I broke the links because I do not want anyone to cilck that.

What post is it on?

Laura #57

Same thing as it looks to me but if I hover over I see Delete and Report a Concern Link on my post and a Report a Concern link on others.

I found a couple on your blog.... from Krishna something or other... links are to an ActiveRain member in Utah or Idaho, agent with Keller Williams.  I had one from him this morning.

Maureen,

I still don't get anything when I hover-- could it be my browser? I'm using Internet Explorer 7...

Anyway, get yourself some more points if you want by reporting this guy's comments on any of my posts. You're right it's "Krishna Kalyup" and he seems to have "commented" on most of my recent posts (except this one, for some reason; go figure!)

I am looking at it now on Internet Explorer and I see the Delete and Report a Concern buttons...

Anyone want extra points just check out Laura's blog...

You're going to have to use Contact ActiveRain and see if they can offer an explaination of why you aren't able to do the Report a Concern and rely on friends to "Report a Concern" for you... wonder if anyone else is not able to see the Report a Concern buttons...

My top image in the post is real blurry when I Look at this on IE.

The great ActiveRain spam feast of July 2009 from a Re-Blog Jeremy did of Bob's post reiterating a comment Bob did to his post : Would you like a side of spam with that...

Hit the report a concern button, don't just delete.

They've got to block the IP addresses!

ActiveRain says don't just delete

I have recieved two spam comments in the last week and cannot see any button to click in order to report it. I hover near the date of the post and nothing pops up. Is there somewhere more obvious I should be looking? Some please email me with directions on how to do this@

Thanks!

Jenny I am on a computer now where I don't see it either.  I am at the office, signed in on an office computer with some version of IE....  I wonder how people who don't see it because of their comnputer should handle this?  Hopefully they have friends who have commmented on the post who can report it as a concern.

Maybe leave a comment on Bob's post on the dashboard?

Jenny I mean ask Bob or others how to handle it if you do not see the links to report spam... I know they are inundated know with support requests. When I get back on my computer I would be happy to report them, if you can leave a link to the posts.

I am sure you will see it since it's featured but just in case... Jeremy's post Would you like bonus points?Send me spam & get points

Email to Jeremy... this is not 10 points for flagging a spam comment.

1.  There are fake memberships ON AR

2.  There is a  big bounty on them if you want points. Not the 10 points you get for the "Report a concern" on a comment.

Jeremy's post is entertaining... how to tell a spam member
