WWW (Wordless Wednesday with Words): Flap your wings and off you go!

If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment. I've always been fascinated by flight, which I guess is why I was 24 before I took my first flight.

Southwest Airlines at Lindbergh Field in San Diego It was just a short flight on Southwest Airlines from Houston Hobby Airport to Dallas Love Field.

I still don't understand how something like a Boeing 747 that can weigh about 900,000 pounds at takeoff can actually take off after rolling down the runway at about 180 miles per hour. Doesn't make sense to me.

Now little birdies, that's a different story. They simply flap their wings and off they go! (If the slide show here doesn't work on your computer, you can click here to watch it at slide.com.)

I was 40 before I took my first airplane ride.......and it was over the big pond to England. I enjoy flying, but it is freaky and the takeoffs are the scariest part to me.

Hey, Hannah - I never get tired of birds, especially flying birds. I wonder why I've never had an indoor bird. Hmmmmm. I have a birthday coming up sometime in the future. Maybe I can get a bird for myself. I wonder how Zoey the Cool Cat would like that. Hmmmmm. Maybe I better rethink this -- LOL.

Hey, Lou - I love flying, too. So does Jim. I'm trying to figure out where I can go for July 18 (Jim's birthday) that is close enough where we could take 90-minute flight or so. We both like San Francisco and Palm Springs, but Palm Springs might be too hot this time of year. Ditto with Phoenix.

Hey, Ann - You might have waited a long time to take your first flight, but when you took it, you sure took a good one. I haven't flown over any big ponds yet, just the Great Lakes flying into Detroit and the Great Salt Lake flying into Salt Lake City.
