Seems like everyone one wants a piece of Michael Jackson. It appears to this scribe somehow cheap and dirty to attempt profit from the dead.
Hucksters on street corners and in flea markets sell Jackson posters and memorabilia for profit. Ebay lists tens of thousands of Michael Jackson items. Jackson's own family is trying to claim his will is invalid to gain control of his children and fortune....and even the mayor of Gary, Indiana (a city hit hard by the recession) is looking to cash in on millions tourist dollars by wanting Jackson to lie in state at city hall and be buried in that city.
The mayor makes no bones about wanting to turn Gary into a tourist mecca for the dead singer, in much the same way Memphis has done following the death of Elvis Presley. It should be noted that Michael Jackson may have been born in Gary, Indiana but did not live there since his childhood......he probably did not have many happy memories of that community....or of his father Joe Jackson who admits having whipped the young star with a belt if he missed a step in rehearsal. Joe Jackson apparently took the term "Stage Dad" to a new level. Michael's animosity apparently ran so deep he reportedly left Joe out of his 2002 will. Now the dad is back claiming love and respect....and of course wanting a slice of the spoils.
Greed is a terrible thing. There are profiteers everywhere coming out of the bushes with their hands out claiming a piece of the action.
I was never a big Michael Jackson fan.. Wrong generation I suppose, but vultures should be exposed for what they are. I may be wrong...but it sure looks to me like their interest is purely monetary and not what the former superstar would have wanted.
It's heartbreaking to see how low humanity has become.
This just in on Loving dad Joe Jackson... See here SHOCKING!!!
Serious collectors and fans should note. Who's to say the memorabilia items being flogged at high prices were ever owned by Jackson. You have a right to demand proof of authenticity. It may be a good idea to wait a year until all the hype dies down before making an investment in Jackson memorabilia. Prices will be lower and you won't play into the hands of profiteers.
