July 4th is just around the corner!  They'll be lots of fun, food and fireworks.  Enjoy the day.  But keep in mind what we are celebrating.  Our freedom and the nation we live in.  On July 4th, 1776 we declared our independance and have held it ever since.  But not without the great sacrifices of our military men and women.  Our fallen heores deserve our praise and our current heroes deserve our respect.  Take the opportunity this weekend to seek out a veteran or active duty member and shake their hand and say "Thank You" for all they've done and continue to do.  Make it a Great 4th of July!

Brad--I like the title and your post.  It reminds us why we celebrate the Fourth.  My hubby is 27 year veteran retired from US Navy.  We plan to participate in Parade on the Bay lead by the flagship Niagara which was Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship in the Battle of Lake Erie September 10, 1813.  (I think I have right date.  I just bought a flag, Don't Give Up the Ship, to fly on our boat US'N TWO.

I couldn't agree more Brad. Have a safe and happy holiday.

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

Best regards.

Good post, Brad.  I would like to suggest that we don't just take the opportunity on July 4th to thank a veteran or someone currently in the service but that anytime we see someone in uniform (I see servicemen at the airport frequently) or meet a veteran we shake their hand and thank them for their service.  They get so little recognition for the service to us and to our country the have and do provide.
