With July upon us, it is time to start figuring out your plans to celebrate Independence Day. One of my favorite places to watch fireworks on the 4th is from a boat on the Potomac River. The Potomac provides an exceptional place from which to view the Fireworks from the National Mall in Washington D.C. The local PBS radio station plays classical music to accompany the display and you can hear it coming from all of the boats anchored on the river. If you haven't had the opportunity to do that, it really is a great experience.

If you are looking for something a little bit simpler to arrange, there are many local communities that are sponsoring Fireworks. Below you will find a partial list of Fireworks displays in the Northern Virginia Area (click on the location name for further information about the event).

I have a great story that could be made into a movie about 1975 when we were on a boat in the Potomac watching the fireworks in DC. It is a great place to watch them.
