...may the Fourth be with you!

I would call this Wordless Wednesday... but it's clearly not. It's more like "speechless" Wednesday.

Here, in Evanston, IL, we have a fabulous 4th of July Parade. (I'll post more about that, after it's occurred).

It's a home-spun, silly, irreverent, romp through town, and there are typically over 100 entries in the parade... from Professional Marching bands, to Senators and national politicians, as well as floats hand made by neighborhoods.

We have the "All American Drum and Bugle Corps" that's pronounced CORPSE, not "core". The Evanston Marching Kazoo Band, the Jesse White Tumblers (Jesse White is our Secretary of State), the South Shore Drill Team (a perennial favourite), as well as the Backlot float.

We, Evanstonians, get heavily into our "grass-roots" campy parade. People line the parade route (Central Street) with lawnchairs, days in advance... (yes, there are already chairs out there now) and come out in force to support their local parade.

So, when Beth Lewis, with Guaranteed Rate, one of my recommended lenders, sent us a package containing some Fourth of July accessories to wear for the parade (including Mardi-Gras-style red, white and blue beads... slotted sun shades, and red,white & blue "jesters" hats... where the balls bounce and light up... battery included)... we just couldn't wait to try them on outside of the office.

Here's a photo of a handful of jocular agents (self-included), standing under our awning, just to stay out of the rain. If you're at the parade, please stop by... my wife and I will be sitting out in front of the Coldwell Banker office (2929 Central Street) along with some of our friends, and if our children are willing to be seen with us, they might put in an appearance. Stop by, introduce yourself... tell me that you read my blog (for some reason... I just love that), and wish my wife (Amy) a happy birthday! Yep, she's a fourth of July baby!! She'll be 39 again this year.

Alan, sounds like a really fun time. Coldwell Banker in Lewisburg will be attending a parade as well. They are always so much fun. Happy birthday to your wife, Amy.

Gary, yes, the glasses are slotted, you can right through them.

Loved the pictures! It put a huge smile on my face to look at them. I love having fun and it is refreshing to be in touch with the fun realtors. We work hard and need to have those fun moments too.

Alan... Sounds like a good romp in deed, we have a little parade in our humble village, mostly firetrucks and Boy Scout floats. But everyone always ends up wet, it has turned in to a traveling water balloon and super soak-er event over the years and of course the kids love that. Happy Fourth!!

Alan - Believe it or not, we accidentally saw TimbukIII play a show on the Fourth of July back in 1995 here in Austin. I say, "accidentally" because we just showed up to watch fireworks and they had a mini-concert. Glad I didn't have to pay for it. :)

So we finally get to see the real you, Alan! Have a great 4th, and make sure you take plenty of pictures, and don't even try to blog drunk - TLW will get you for that if you do;-)
