Dale Cochran's Exploring Watercolor Workshop at the Pickens County Museum
Two Day Workshop on Thursday, July 16 and Saturday, July 18
Expand your repertoire and unleash your creativity by experimenting with watercolor but do not be surprised if you are not allowed to use your fingers! During "Exploring Watercolor" on July 16 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and July 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., artist Dale Cochran will share a collection of best techniques he uses when painting. On Thursday evening Dale will discuss the supplies & tools he uses and then lead you through an exercise that will blend a series of techniques to create a painting. Saturday will be a day of painting and critique with one-on-one instruction, demonstration and class discussion about problems and discoveries encountered while exploring watercolor. These sessions will be held in the Liz Smith-Cox Educational Studio at the Pickens County Museum of Art & History, 307 Johnson Street in Pickens.
Pre-Registration is required. The workshop is open to student ages 16 and up and is limited to a Minimum of 5 and Maximum of 10 students on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition for the two-day workshop is $65.00 for museum members and $75.00 for non-members, payable to the Pickens County Museum or student may use their charge card by calling museum. Tuition includes basic supplies needed for the workshop. Dale's detailed supply list will be furnished during class and is available to participants at Pre-Registration. Please join us from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. as we host a reception to meet the three artists featured in "Dale Cochran: Extraordinary Experiences," "Lynn Greer: Night Views" and "Russell Jewell: Legacy and Light" . All three exhibitions will continue through August 27, 2009. You might recognize Cochran's name from the Exploring Watercolor event on the 16th and 18th.
Three Watercolorists in Exhibition is part of the museum's 2008 - 2009 exhibition season. Located at the corner of Hwy. 178 at 307 Johnson Street in Pickens SC, the museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Thursdays from 9:00a.m. until 7:30 p.m.and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcomed. Award winning photographer Clay Bolt to conduct "Basics of Digital Photography"workshop
Don't miss this opportunity to take an introductory Digital Photography class. Award-winning photographer Clay Bolt is the instructor for this early morning class on Saturday, July 25 at the Pickens County Museum of Art History . Scheduled from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m., the class size is limited to 10 students so early registration is encouraged. Pre-registration is required and this class is suitable for ages 16 years and up Tuition is $70 ($60 for museum members). Students will meet at the Liz Smith-Cox Educational Studio which is located downstairs at the museum and the class will continue into the museum's gardens.
