We Don't Do Old School Meetings .... everyone is always going ten different directions at once, and no body ever really likes them anyway,,,,

Has anyone here built a VIRTUAL meeting site? I have been thinking about using Yahoo Groups; set up as a private moderated group .... it is simple to use, and most folks here are pretty familiar with it since a number of community groups around here use Yahoo Groups to distribute information.

Google Wave would be ideal, but it doesn't exist yet.  :-)

Anyway, associates could post info about their new listings, reductions, pendings, solds .... we could post industry information, stuff about new regulations and requirements .... You know, the stuff real estate office meetings are made of  :-)

Anyone else doing this?  What platform are you using?  Comments?  Thoughts?

As I was reading the first paragraph, I was thinking Google Wave would be perfect.  Ah Shucks, do you think they will unveil it soon?

We have tried Facebook for group meetings, but really haven't been able to make it work.

I recently migrated our sites to GoDaddy, including our email.  They have a very sharp webmail feature with a group calendar etc.  Trouble is you must "train" your agents to use webmail and check the dashboard.  I've been using it for a week now. It has some excellent features and some annoying ones (I wish I could group select and delete). You can add RSS feeds, so with some planning all your listings could land on the agent's desktop, assuming they would configure the Rss.  It also has file storage.  I'm still checking it out, but so far I can see Webmail has come a long way.

Personally I like deleting in one central place rather than on two computers and an iPhone. Duh.

Yahoo Groups is an old standby. I've been on a Group there for well over a decade.  It was a wonderful way to communicate back in the 90's and still is in some ways.  It's not Google Wave, but it works.

Cheryl, I belong to several Yahoo Groups and something called Meet-ups as well where you go and meet in person to discuss certain topics.  I haven't started any but I do enjoy the ones I get to go to...and there are SO many!

Caution: CAT BLOG AHEAD

Including random thoughts on life, art, business, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate.

What is a CAT BLOG?

According to Seth Godin: "Cat blogs are for, by, and about the person blogging. A cat blog is about your cat and your dating travails and your boss and whatever else you feel like sharing in your public diary." Well, I am the boss, my dating years are behind me, but I do love my cats.

Enjoy!
