The Thankful Thursday Group is looking for a Profile picture and I know this entry for the contest is a bit obvious, but I couldn't resist...

turkey

Now, what represents "thanks" better than the Thanksgiving turkey?

My mother-in-law, Mae, has been gone for eight years now.  Family was the most important thing in the world to her, and feeding her family was something she took great pride in.  She would have been very proud to have this picture entered into the contest.

Hi Sharon!

The  best things in life are usually the most overlooked, and a Thanksgiving turkey represents so many of those things. That's why we have Thanksgiving, to remember the things we take for granted everyday. I think your entry is a spectacular one. :)

June:  She loved the holidays and putting out a big spread.  Unfortunately she didn't spend much time with us, she spent all her time in the kitchen!

Debra:  Thanks so much!  She was full of energy, and she would do anything for her family. Oh, and don't be fooled by her size, for such a little woman she could take care of herself!

Sharon,
I think it's a great entry.  Feeding those we love is just one of the ways some of us show our love.

Michele:  It was very large and it's funny you should mention it being cooked to perfection.  I seem to remember it not being cooked all the way and having to go back in the oven. LOL!

Mike:  Thank you!

TLW:  Now whose making sure that you are behaving yourself?  Thanks for stopping by, and checking on me.   I won't do anything you wouldn't do, how's that?

Hi Sharon,

Your photo brought back memories.  My grandmother's name was May (Mayetta) also.  She was of German background though (Schwindt).  My mom is the same as your mother in law was.  Always too much food cuz you never know how many mouths there will be to feed.  But you know there will always be enough plus leftovers.

Jenny:  I am a big fan of leftovers!  No such thing as too much as far as I'm concerned!  Thanks.

Wow, that turkey is huge and looks delicious.  She must have had quite a crowd to feed!

Wendy:  Not really, I think there were only six adults and three small kids.  She wasn't one to run out of food.  She taught me the fine art of having four to six side dishes with a holiday meal so there is plenty of variety and color.  She loved an attractive presentation when it came to serving.
