The Letter He Couldn't Answer

I don't know how many of you are familiar with an author named Paulo Coelho, however I wish to draw your attention to him now in case you have never heard of him or read any of his books.

My life was transformed with the help of this man and his astonishing insight into the human spirit and the meaning of life. I can honestly say the book that has touched me the most in the past 10 years is his book called Manual of the Warrior of Light . If you haven't read it, I implore you to head to your nearest bookstore or library and pick up a copy. It is like a miniature Aladdin's Lamp filled with a never ending trove of wisdom and tools to help you on your journey.

Paulo also has a blog on Warrior of the Light ...his latest post amazed me. The transcendence of the human spirit in the face of all odds going against someone is quite literally astonishing. Please, if you have a moment today, read it.

Read it and then be thankful, thankful for your life, for the people around you who love you and help you on your journey, for the ability to watch a sparrow's delicate underfeathers being ruffled by the wind as he sits on the wooden fence outside your window (and feeling such an overwhelming sense of joy and love as you watch the tiny bird ), for being able to go and get a glass of Clean, Clear water anytime you want within the comfort of your own home, for smiles and unexpected gifts from those whose lives you have touched, for the unseen hand that guides you and helps you when you need lifting back up........

If everyone would ever really stop to consider the true significance of their inner self, I believe that most of us would really attempt to live a bigger, better life. However, most people are so caught up with living a life of existence that they fail to grasp the little joys that are available to us.

All of Coelho's books are worth reading. Don't buy just the latest book, take a look at them all. The Alchemist is a great place to start.

Darcy - I hope you had a chance to pick up the Manual of the Warrior of Light yesterday...it is a tiny little book, you know that saying 'great things come in small packages' . It is based on much of the wisdom that is to be found in one of Coelho's other books 'The Alchemist' . Personally I preferred The Manual of the Warrior of Light over The Alchemist, mainly because I am a non-fictiony type of gal and I don't always have time to search for the tidbits of wisdom sprinkled throughout a book...so Coelho did that for us with 'the manual' !

Steven - How true ! I often think of myself as a spiritual being having a physical experience. You ?

Brian - I'm glad you enjoyed it ! Your comment about 'perceived limitations' reminded me of something I recently read in a book called Driven to Distraction (on ADD)....we often do not give ourselves enough credit nor do we realize how truly special and unique and capable and AMAZING we are. If you are a friend to yourself, you have mastered one of the secrets of life.

John - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did ! Come to think of it, it reminds me a lot of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery...ever read that one ?

Linda - I definitely agree with you. One of my favourites of his is The Zahir. I LOVED that book.

Loreena - If you have never heard of him before, then you have just discovered a gem. Enjoy !
