Addison Pacesetters (the 50+ group) meet the first Wednesday of each month at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse on Beltline Road and learn about the Town of Addison. This month, Ms. Betsy Sterns from the Recreation Department spoke to us.
Here are some interesting tidbits from her presentation:
Betsy has had some interesting jobs before coming to the Town of Addison. She served in the Air Force in Biloxi, helping to clean up after Hurricane Camille; worked in the food service industry; at a Petco store; and as an instructor for a special population program in Yuma, Arizona. She has been with the Town of Addison for the past 9 years.
Betsy's responsibilities include:
- investigating if Addison Athletic Club members actually live in Addison (a requirement for continuing membership)
- scheduling the Pavillion across from the AAC
- overseeing the towel service
- providing monthly reports to the Parks & Rec director and the town manager
- filing membership paperwork
- opening the AAC (5:30, most mornings)
- testing the water in the pool
- filling the magazine racks
- keeping the coffee pots full
In her spare time, Betsy volunteers at Operation Kindness, a no-kill animal shelter.
Next month, August 5th is the first Wednesday. Come out and join us at Dunn Bros.
